Learn classic skate moves with me, a roller skate coach, tv/film skate talent, and cofounder of LA Roller Crew! Get an upfront view of some of the most iconic Venice Beach spots before the afternoon rush! Feel the pulse of Venice Beach’s unique blend of artistry, athleticism, and self-expression in a guided 120-minute session for all levels. Skates from Jay’s Rentals are included. • Meet at Jay's Rentals located at 1501 Ocean Front Walk ( a 1-minute walk past the Venice sign) to pick up your skates before heading to the Venice Beach Skate Dance Plaza, where I’ll share the history of the legendary skate plaza and surrounding area. Bring water to stay hydrated and sunscreen for protection while rolling in sunny SoCal. • Stretch and warm up on the grass before I guide you through essential roller-dance moves recognizable worldwide: the Downtown, the Crazy Legs, and the Grapevine. • Keep rolling! I’ll give you tips for the best places to keep skating until your skates are due back at Jay's Rentals. *For skate rentals beyond 2-hour allotted time, additional fees will apply, and must be returned by 7pm. You’ll leave with improved skating skills, as well as an invitation to join local meetups and stay connected with the Venice skate community.

Learn the art of pot painting using cochinilla dye

This creative & beginner-friendly workshop will take place in our backyard greenhouse patio, surrounded by fresh air and plants. Each participant will receive a unique & portable terracotta pot to paint & customize using a natural & locally-harvested Cochinilla Dye made from scratch by the shop's owner and founder, Andi Xoch, as well as a small plant to take home! We’ll begin with a fun introductory exercise & a brief history on our business & Cochinilla dye, which has ancient origins in the Americas. We’ll explain how to use the provided materials & show you some finished samples; as we guide you through the design & painting process, everyone will get an opportunity for one-on-one tips as you sketch your ideas & dive into painting. While our pots dry, we’ll answer any questions & share our favorite local spots around Boyle Heights, most within walking distance! You can also browse our shop's selection of plants, florals, & original artwork. All guests will receive a 20% discount. Once our pots are dry, each participant will get to choose a small beginner-friendly succulent to plant inside their pot to take home; these plants are the perfect travel companions, & shouldn't cause any stress on the way home! Private Malibu Horseback Ride - Epic Ocean & Mountain Views

High Horse Malibu offers private and semi-private (up to four riders) horseback rides in one of the most secluded and scenic areas in Malibu! Our trails traverse rolling hills, wooded canyons, and striking rock formations, with sweeping ocean vistas around every corner! A one of a kind experience you won't forget. Right after you book you'll receive an email from us collecting some basic info (physical stats, riding experience, etc.) so that we have the perfect horses tacked and ready when you arrive. Upon arrival you'll be introduced to your guide and acquainted with your horse. We start every ride off with a ten to fifteen minute riding lesson to get you comfortable and confidant. When everyone feels good - we hit the trail! There are plenty of opportunities to take photos and enjoy the beautiful scenery along the ride. Our goal is for everyone who rides with us to leave with an appreciation for horses and a love of riding! Things to note: If you plan to take an Uber or other ride share service - please make arrangements for pick up prior to being dropped off. It is difficult (sometimes impossible) to get cell service at the ranch depending on your provider. The rider weight limit is 200lbs. Exceptions made for riders over 6ft tall. You must be at least 8 years old to ride.

Kokedama Plant Making Workshop

In this experience, we will dive into the Japanese art of kokedamas. We will first talk about the fascinating history of this old art form, as well as how it is related to Japanese customs and the philosophy of wabi sabi. Then, I will show you how to make your first kokedama. Making kokedamas involves turning peat moss into a soil ball and then wrapping it in sheet moss to create a self sustaining pot to hold your plant. Each person will have their own station to create TWO kokedamas, that will eventually be taken home. This is perfect for those who are looking for a romantic and unique date or an enjoyable time spent with a family member learning a new trade. We have hosted many birthday and bachelorette parties, if you are looking for a special way to celebrate in nature. Temporary pause due to air quality from Eaton Fire. See you again starting January 30, 2025. Imagine your breakfast with wholesome, nutritious eggs from your own backyard hens. Raising chickens is rewarding for the whole family. Come see for yourself! Get a chance to hand-feed our hens (fun for photographs) and see if it's for you. Or just relive what it is like to be around them if your grandma had them or if you were raised with them. Want to set up a group or corporate event? Contact me about a private group. I’m also happy to add classes to the calendar to fit different schedules if you don’t see one you like. I'll answer your questions and cover the dos and don'ts for starting and caring for your flock. How to choose the right breeds for your area, what age you want (Day-old chicks? Laying age? Hatching eggs?), house them, feed them, care for them, and still have your neighbors on speaking terms. This Experience focuses on chickens as pets and for eggs. I don't keep roosters or meat birds, although I will be happy to answer questions. Seating is provided. I will provide some resource notes on raising chickens as well as egg-based recipes to try later. My hope is you’ll enjoy spending time in appreciation of Nature, learn about where our food comes from, and slow down long enough to appreciate the sights, sounds and habits of chickens.

Valentine Be Mine Horseback Trail Ride

Most evenings and each month on the full moon we ride out to enjoy the sights, sounds and smells of the Santa Monica mountains at night. It is an amazing experience! The terrain is varied so we'll travel over dry arroyos, through grassy fields and through oak groves that were devastated by the Woolsey fire last year! Depending on your level of experience, we can climb up about 700 feet to a lookout point to take in the full spectacle of the full moon or sunset or enjoy a leisurely ride on a wide, flat trail through the park. Either way the magic and fun continues in this 2 hour equestrian experience. When you first arrive at my ranch you'll have time to help groom and tack up your mount, with a riding lesson included in the experience to tune up your skills. This will give you an opportunity to get to know the horses, and give your experienced wranglers an opportunity to assess your skill level and pair you with the best mount for you! Then we ride out in a small group from my front pasture into Cheseboro Park at a slow pace to let the horses warm up. Afterward back at the ranch you'll help the wranglers unsaddle, and if the horses aren't going back out, you'll help feed and grain them, and tuck them in for a good night's rest. This is a magical experience that you won't soon forget. Other things to note My horses are not hacks. Be honest about your skill level. Helmets are mandatory not optional. In booking this ride you acknowledge that you acknowledge that although we do everything possible to keep the experience/guests safe this is a dangerous activity that could result in injury, pain or death.

Ocean wildlife tour, fastest boat/most sightings

Come experience a thrilling 2 hour whale/dolphin watching tour aboard the #1 rated eco tour in Southern California! Newport Coastal Adventure features the fast whale watching boats in California, not only that but these zodiacs are the safest small boats to be on, also allowing you to be right above the waters surface, with dolphins swimming gracefully just below your hands. We are aware of other operators in the area using cheaper foreign made boats that can’t pass coast guard inspections and therefore are limited to 6 passengers but we can take out 15 on our coast guard approved boats. Be careful with these other tours as they lack the experience, knowledge, and communication with other operators to help find wildlife. We have possible whale sightings every month out of the year and every trip is different, some trips see whales, some see dolphin, and some see both! If we see whales or dolphin, the trip is a success, if we don't see either, we'll issue you a full refund. Things to note: - Arrive 1 hour ahead of time - Bring layers to keep warm

Kayak or Paddle board with Sea Lions

Enjoy the peaceful atmosphere of beautiful Marina del Rey while kayaking or standup paddle boarding. Find hidden spots in the marina and discover local wildlife, including sea lions, a wide variety of birds and sometimes even dolphins. We will meet on the parking lot right next to mellow sandy Mother's beach, talk about the local environment and marine life, kayaking/paddle-boarding techniques and safety. After that we will board on our kayaks and SUPs and paddle towards the main channel of the Marina. On the way we can observe all the beautiful and unique boats and search for sea lions, birds, dolphins and other marine life (these are the wild animals and I can't guarantee that we'll see them, but in majority of the time we do).

Griffith Park-Hollywood Sign Highlights Sunset Hike

Come explore some of the highlights of this 5,000 acre park just above Hollywood! We’ll hike about 2.5-3 miles (depending on the exact route) up to the Griffith Observatory & on to a unique view of the Hollywood sign. I’ll show you an historic nature garden, we’ll get views of Hollywood and downtown LA from the iconic Griffith Observatory (which is also a museum), we'll see some of the highlights of the observatory, & then we'll go to see unique views of the Hollywood Sign. The lighting changes throughout the day (evening hikes will see sunset, while hikes earlier in the day are brighter), but the views are always beautiful! I’ll share history and geography of the Park and LA as we go along. And, of course, there will be ample stops for unforgettable photos from the best vantage points, and I will be happy to take memorable photos of you and your friends/family. This is a moderate hike ideal for families & those with the desire for a short, easy way to see the highlights. This experience is great for groups to book. And for organizations it is great for teams & team-building. Please CONTACT ME if you want a time or date that's not listed. Other things to note: This hike is moderate. Be in condition to walk 2-3 miles going up & down hill. Arrive at meeting point 15 minutes early. A small backpack/rucksack is useful for the hike. Remember sun protection.
