Immerse yourself in history as our guest at the National Register listed Stone House Mansion (1757). Home to Revolutionary War and War of 1812 officers, statesman, and Congressmen. Close to Historic Shepherdstown, Harpers Ferry, & Antietam National Battlefield. It has everything you will need for a comfortable stay. Our house is ideal for couples, families, solo adventurers, business travelers (available for extended stay). 1 to 6 bedrooms available- priced per bedroom.
This bright sunny bedroom is in the 1905 addition to the house, on the second floor. It has a double bed. It was known as the "Sleeping Porch", a special room for many generations of the VanMetre family to enjoy the summer breezes coming in from the many windows along two sides of the room. It has a nice view of the barns and other farm outbuildings. This house is steeped in American history. The following is condensed from the National Register of Historic Places listing: The Stone House Mansion was constructed in 1757. It is one of the oldest stone structures in Berkeley County. The Stone House Mansion is significant for its association with the Hite vs. Fairfax lawsuit, which revolved around the question of whether colonial government or English government had the authority to grant land. The suit is significant in the interpretation of the arguments and as a precursor of the concepts and concerns that eventually led to the Revolution. It was for these very beliefs that the colonies rebelled. The stone house is mentioned in the suit and is included in a survey conducted as part of the evidence. Stone House Mansion is significant for its association with Captain John Strode, who constructed Stone House Mansion. Captain John Strode fought with the Continental Army and was the founder of Strode’s Station in Kentucky. Stone House Mansion is significant for its association with General Adam Stephen, who founded the city of Martinsburg. Stephen was second-in-command to George Washington in the French and Indian War and fought under George Washington in the Continental Army during the Revolutionary War with the rank of Major General. After the war, he served as a delegate to the 1788 Virginia Convention and spoke persuasively in favor of adopting the U.S. Constitution. Stephen purchased Stone House Mansion from Captain John Strode in September 1789. The land was to be inherited by his daughter, Ann Stephen. Ann Stephen was married twice. Her first marriage in 1779 was to Captain Alexander Spotswood Dandridge, who was second cousin to Martha Washington and grandson of Virginia Governor Alexander Spotswood. Captain Dandridge served as an Aide-de-Camp on the staff of General George Washington during the Revolutionary War. Captain Alexander Spotswood Dandridge died in 1785. Ann’s second marriage in 1787 was to Major Moses Hunter, Revolutionary War veteran and member of the Virginia House of Delegates. Stone House Mansion was inherited by Major Moses Hunter’s son, Lieutenant David Hunter, who was killed at the battle of Williamsburg on the St. Lawrence River in the War of 1812. Stone House Mansion was then inherited by the granddaughter of General Adam Stephen, Anne Hunter. Anne Hunter married Captain Henry St. George Tucker, who fought in the War of 1812 and was a U.S. Congressman, a member of the Virginia Senate, lawyer, judge, and law professor at the University of Virginia. Tucker County, West Virginia was named for Henry St. George Tucker. Stone House Mansion is significant for its association with James Monroe VanMetre and his son Isaac David Sylvester VanMetre, both prominent businessmen and farmers from a very prominent early settlement family in the Shenandoah Valley.
This quiet area is part of what was once a large historic farm, but now only 10 acres of it remain. You will probably see some chickens and cows. Stone House Mansion is within a 30-minute drive to historic destinations in Harpers Ferry, WV, Winchester, VA, and Sharpsburg, MD. Visit the nearby Charles Town Racetrack and Casino. Also within a 30-minute drive visitors can enjoy outdoor activities, including hiking, fishing, whitewater rafting, and biking or hiking the C&O Canal and Appalachian Trail. It is convenient to the highway and less than a mile to a supermarket. The new bike trail between Charles Town and Martinsburg, West Virginia borders the property. The State has placed a historical marker about Stone House Mansion on the bike path!
  • My husband and I arrived to stay our first night in The Sleeping Porch the night of our wedding. We arrived very late in the evening, and upon our arrival Donald and Barbara were so kind, gave us a tour of the house, and explained some of its history. When we went out to get our things from our car they helped us carry them in. Our room was clean and the air conditioner in our room was fabulous. In the morning we noticed a cute basket with towels for showering and an additional plastic basket to carry toiletries. The bathroom was clean, stylish, and the water got hot immediately. After we packed up our car to head on our way, we went around to the back of the house and were surprised to find an adorable sitting area and gorgeous flowers lit by the warm morning light. A true gem this place is. Thank you Donald and Barbara for a wonderful stay!

  • What a gem. Hilltop historical farm with easy on off access to I-9. Met with Barb who is so very pleasant . Hope to return again.

  • We loved the house and our room was very cozy. The location was a short driving distance to local attractions and the grounds were beautiful. We hope to return to the area and would love to stay here again. We highly recommend Donald & Barbara’s place.

  • My fiancée and I had an absolutely lovely stay at the Stone House Mansion. The hosts were very accommodating to an earlier check-in which worked out perfectly for us. Upon arrival, Barbara met us at the door and gave us a quick tour of the house. The house is very clean and beautifully renovated. Our bed was very comfortable and we were provided all amenities we could possibly need. The other guests staying in the house were very friendly as well. Definitely a unique experience!

    Elina2016-10-16T00:00:00Z
  • Just remove wireless internet from the amenities. Everything else was wonderful!

  • Loved the beautiful magnolia tulip tree...historic home well maintained

    David2018-04-15T00:00:00Z
  • The main attraction of the house is it's history. It is comfortable (with an exception of shared bathrooms, which may be a nuisance when house is full). We were looking for more scenery outside, but location right next to a highway doesn't allow much. Hosts seem to be nice and friendly, although we only saw them for a few minutes. Location is not as close to the sightseeing we were planning to do, but not too far either. All in all a pleasant stay, especially due to meeting other guest couple that were a pure delight. Thank you Donald and Barbara for sharing your house with us (Website hidden by Airbnb)

A quaint room in the country with private entrance, private Bed/Bath a refrigerator and coffee maker. Located on over 26 acres there are paths to walk on throughout the woods and a private road for walkers or joggers. 7 miles from downtown Shepherdstown, WV. 8 miles from Charles Town, WV and 8 miles from Martinsburg, WV.
We live on a private road with approximately 15 other houses. it is quiet and away from traffic sounds. At night, you can see all the stars. Our little town is beautiful and quiet.
  • This couples suite is the perfect mix of hotel room and old country inn. The converted garage has a private entrance, bedroom, bathroom, and a few kitchen items (think hotel or dorm room). The property is lovely and we enjoyed walking our dogs around the yard and gardens.

  • Bathroom was clearly not cleaned since the last guests had used it. Checking in was easy and it was a nice quiet neighborhood. It made for a perfect stopover for our road trip from south to north. Wish we had picked a place a little closer to the highway but it wasn’t too bad.

  • Absolutely LOVED this fantastic place!! Laura's studio is a wonderful oasis- the pictures don't do it justice. The studio is full of the most thoughtful touches, from the awesome decor and furniture, to the yummy snacks in the kitchen and fridge. And there were little vases of fresh flowers! It is relaxing, cozy, sparkling clean, beautiful place and I will definitely be back here! Super bikes in the shed and a sweet porch swing. Laura is the greatest hostess and goes out of her way to make you feel comfortable. Super location, close to Harper's ferry and parks. I can't say enough about this place- can't wait to come back!!!!

  • If you are in the area, you don’t pass Laura’s place by. She had fresh flowers everywhere, lots of snacks & goodies, drinks and makings for breakfast (including fresh farm eggs). It was spotlessly clean and she was prompt in replying. I give my highest rating!

  • Paula & Ron’s place was the perfect quiet & secluded spot to rest up after a long drive.. & just off the highway! Aside from spiders (which isn’t normally a problem- only because of the heavy rains from the hurricane ) my stay was absolutely perfect! The bed was super cozy and the hot shower was exactly what I needed after 13 hours of driving. I’d def stay again!

The cottage is incredibly clean, cozy, kept cool with AC and has everything you need for a perfect little stay. This cottage is a DEAL and we wish our schedule would’ve allowed us to stay more than one night! Paula and Ron are both sweet and personable but respected our privacy. They even left a cute little house welcoming gift on the kitchen table for us. I would highly recommend the Last Rodeo Cottage and would gladly stay here again! :)

  • This was a great first Airbnb experience for both myself and my girlfriend. The communication was great. Check in was easy. The apartment was super nice and had everything we needed for our stay. I hope all future experiences go as smoothly as they did with Jackie. I did want to mention that there are railroad tracks very close to the property which were a distraction the first night. We found a box fan in the closet that drowned out the sound the second night. Other than that, it was a great experience .

    Matthew2019-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • Jackie's place was beautifully decorated, clean, comfortable, and well stocked! I especially loved the surprise in the bathroom and of course the chocolate!

  • One of the most adorable places we’ve stayed at on Airbnb! Sparkling clean, stocked kitchen, extremely comfortable bed and the attention to detail was superb! We will definitely stay again!!

  • Jackie was a wonderful host, she was quick to reply and willing to help out with whatever we needed. Her home was so cozy and well kept, it was wonderful. She is even kind enough to stock the home with little things such as coffee and cereal. The bathroom provided linens and travel size soaps which really came in handy for us. We will be returning for sure!

    Marcy2017-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay at Jackie's! It was quaint, clean, and had touches of home that make staying at an Airbnb way better than a hotel. The place had everything you could ever need including toiletries and breakfast snacks. Checkin was seamless! Jackie was able to quickly accommodate us for a slightly earlier checkin. Overall wonderful stay.

  • We had a wonderful two-night stay at Jackie's apartment! She was a very thoughtful host, providing everything from toothpaste to snacks for our convenience and responding to all my emails within an hour. The apartment was lovely - everything looked brand new and very clean. Jackie and her husband even started a fire for us so that we could spend an evening enjoying s'mores in the backyard. The apartment was a short drive away from the Hollywood Casino and beautiful hiking in historic Harper's Ferry. We highly recommend the apartment and look forward to coming back sometime soon!

  • If you're visiting the Charles Town area, Jackie's place is a must. It was nicely decorated, clean, and within blocks of downtown . The surrounding neighborhood is nice and quiet, a good place to get away and relax! I definitely recommend Jackie's apartment and I hope to return some day! If you have time, hike around Harper's Ferry!

Thanks for checking out the bus. It has been a joy to meet so many nice people since we listed it on Airbnb. The bus is just a short walk from our house where you can use the bathroom and kitchen if you need. Thanks again!
It's a 1997 school bus, not too long, not too short. There is a sofa, table, woodstove and full bed. There is ambient light and electricity on the bus as well as several candles. It has a wood floor and wood wall siding. It's in a private area of my yard and in the warmer weather there is a deck attached to the bus for relaxing. Aside from the bus, my bathroom is shared and my kitchen can be used also if requested. It depends on what the guest seems to prefer. I have had dinner with guests and taken them on tours of the area, picked them up from the train, given rides, etc. Many guest prefer to just have some privacy in the country and I respect that totally. I also work a lot which can hinder my availabilityon certain days. I live on a country road and my neighbors are like family.

  • This was by far the most unique and pleasant AirBnB experience we've ever had. Will was incredibly hospitable and the bus is extremely cozy. The surrounding area is beautiful with lots of fun activities (hiking, kayaking, boating etc) all of which Will filled us in on. I highly recommend this spot. Possibly the best value on all if AirBnB.

  • Loved Will and Sabrina's school bus!! It was much more than I originally expected. You can tell that they put a lot of work and love into this space. It is right next to the house, so bathroom and kitchen was a breeze, but it felt private since there were lots of trees and bushes between the bus and house. It felt like sleeping at a secluded campsite. The communication was great as well! Shepherdstown was a dream, and I hope to come back soon! Thank you, Will and Sabrina!

    Anna2015-10-07T00:00:00Z
  • The bus was awesome. Will has done a great job make it cute and cozy and he had some firewood for us to use in the firepit. He even put an electric heater to take the edge off the cold nights. It is in a great location for getting to Harpers Ferry (we rode our bikes the 12 miles on the tow path to get there) or just jumping into downtown Shepherdstown. Will was away the weekend that my friend and I stayed but he did an amazing job of checking in and making sure we were ok.

    Stefanie2016-10-15T00:00:00Z
  • Will was an awesome host! I highly recommend his bus!

  • Hands down the best airbnb I've ever been to. If you're looking for a truly unique experience, this is the place. Will is incredibly kind and accommodating to anything you need during your stay. He even introduced us to his dogs and baby chicks! The bus was like a cabin getaway (made us feel like we were in the "Into the Wild" story).

This is our fourth year hosting with airbnb. Butch is a retired teacher, part time pastor & keeps busy with handyman jobs. Beth works full time taking care of Butch.
Charles Town is a historic city founded by Charles Washington, brother to our first president. We are 1 mile from Charles Town Races and Hollywood Casino. Charles Town is in the heart of National Parks related to the Civil War: Harpers Ferry 15 min., Antietam 30 min., Gettysburg 60 min., Frederick 30 min., Chancellorsville @ Wilderness 90 min. and. Fredericksburg 120 min. Hiking available at Maryland and Loudan Heights at Harper's Ferry/Appalachian Trail . Private access to Shenandoah river 3 miles away. Close to Summit Point race course. One block from community park with 1/2 mile walking path and swimming pool.
  • The apartment was perfect as a quiet place to rest up between taking care of my 3 under age 4 grandchildren who live nearby. There was space for me to work on my hobbies and the kitchen made cooking my own meals easy. It is a nice neighborhood for walking.

  • We love it here. Clean, beautiful, quiet. The eggs are a treat.

  • Butch was a wonderful host. He greeted me upon my arrival and gave me all kinds of information about the town. The apartment was impeccable. It was fully stocked and very clean and comfortable. I would definitely stay here again.

  • Charles was a great host. He had good ideas for the area restaurants. The apartment was very clean, spacious, and comfortable. We loved the private entrance. Charles thought of nearly every kitchen need, including bringing us an extra set of towels when we extended our stay. We will definitely stay again, if we visit this area again.

    Rochelle (& Mike)2016-04-07T00:00:00Z
  • Charles was a very nice and helpful host. His place was nice and clean.

    Teresa2017-10-04T00:00:00Z
  • Butch has put a lot of time and thought into making a true home away from home. He greeted us promptly, gave us a tour of the immaculately clean and cozy space, made recommendations for food and activities, and then accommodated our almost immediate request for a second night. If we are ever in the area again, we know where we'll be staying.

  • Amazing locality, superest nice people (I had to invent a word for that), beautiful huge house, you can use it all (except the other peoples rooms). If you go to the back of the house - the trees there - that is some ZEN. The place has other people there, you might not be alone alone in the house if that's what you need. Quality stay, super sleep, great coffee in the morning. I had the room that shares bathroom, was never an issue with the other people to coordinate. All thumbs up :)

Leeland , at 5011 Kearneysville Pike, adjoins Shepherdstown, the oldest town in West Virginia, full of the arts, restaurants, parks and civil war sites. You’ll love the small rental house's outdoor space, gardens, cozy historic charm and recent remodeling with HVAC, full kitchen and bath. You are in the country, yet only a stone's throw to downtown Shepherdstown. A romantic retreat for couples, it also could accommodate a young child or two.
The Lee family's 800 sq. ft law office was converted to a dwelling in 1864, and completely remodeled in 2015 for airbnb. It retains its historic charm, with narrow stairs, sloping ceilings upstairs, and low headroom in a couple of places. Downstairs is a fully equipped kitchen and living room with dining table, day bed, armchairs, TV. Upstairs is the full bath and bedroom with queen bed, armchairs, and work table. It sits 900 feet back from the road, amidst 12.5 acres of farmland and gardens. The rental is an entire little house with excellent privacy and separation from the adjacent main house, begun in 1866.
Leeland is an estate set in farmland, right on the edge of historic Shepherdstown. You have the best of both worlds: a quiet, charming dwelling surrounded by gardens, within walking distance of Shepherdstown's restaurants, shops, music and theater. The Potomac river and C&O canal are barely a mile away, and a little further afield are Sharpsburg/Antietam national park (4 miles); Harper's Ferry national park (10 miles), and other historic sites and lovely countryside.
  • I cannot possibly put into words how welcome Meg made us feel. Meg is such a fantastic host and kind person. Meg was also helpful with ideas, directions, etc... The location was perfect. The accommodations were beyond anything we expected. Honestly we feel like we have made new friends and hope to return soon.

  • Great visit to Leeland House! Property is so lovely, such a relaxing setting. The cottage house is cozy, quaint and well appointed. We loved that it was so walkable to town. We enjoyed a great meal at The Press Room (reservations recommended!) and had fun catching drinks and live music at The Mecklenberg Inn. Meg was super to deal with - responsive and flexible! We look forward to returning- and checking out the main house once renovated, too - looks like that will be a great spot as well.

    Jennifer2016-12-30T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely stay at Leeland while enjoying Shepherdstown and Harper's Ferry. The house was very cozy and bright and close to Shepherdstown's cool array of restaurants and shops. Meg is a thoughtful host, sharing driving directions and knowledge about the local sights.

  • Patricia could not have asked for a more unsettling start to her first hosting experience. I made my booking last minute, in the middle of the evening and was only 15 min away when I booked. I did send a message and tried to call to make sure she was ready for me and since I was so close even though I did not get a response I made my way to her place with the expectation that I may be turned away. Upon arrival I was confident Patricia didn't expect me as I did not see the normal ready to receive host arrive at the door when I pulled up. Instead I double checked that I had the right place and knocked on the door even though I wasn't sure anyone was home. Patricia peeked out from a window upstairs and indicated she would be right down. I had caught Patricia in the middle of her work-out unaware she was getting her first guest. However after a good conversation getting her up to speed on my last minute booking and her first guest standing in front of her and willing to go away and return when she was ready she graciously invited me in and the great stay began. Patricia (and Steve's) place was very comfortable and felt like "home" even if not my home, something I also hope for and expected based on the pictures. The room, bed and private (en-suite) bathroom were great and Patricia offer suggestions for food as well as food if I desired (see listing for details). While I wasn't sure I need food after a long day and a large lunch I did take time to settle in at the table, work a little on my laptop and make a few calls while getting to know Patricia better. She was very friendly and easy going and willing to let me interrupt her routine to chat a bit. After a great night's sleep and a cheery greeting in the morning the stay was complete after yet a bit more chatting. I can't say everything was perfect, nor did I expect it as it was clear by lack of reviews and "new listing" I was one if not the first when I booked. And as a host I realize its hard to get it right and please everyone, and it takes times and suggestions to continue to improve. However nothing was "bad" and I had a great stay and would stay again. I hope next time I have more time to get to know them better, indulge in the amenities and maybe a home cooked meal and see how things have progressed for Patricia. One thing is for sure, if she will have me again and its available I will stay at Patricia's place when I return and would recommend others to do so if a shared home experience and getting to know others is of interest. Thanks again Patricia!

  • This was my first Airbnb experience and it was a good one. I live close by and needed a weekend away from the family to complete lots of much-needed paperwork for my business. Since I do live close by, Patricia offered for me to come by to check out the house, because her and Steve would be away when it was my time to arrive. She showed me through the house and where everything was. Very cozy home with everything at your fingertips. I can't emphasize "clean" enough. The place was spotless! They even left a shelf empty for me in the fridge. They were very accommodating, as I took up their kitchen table the entire time I was there. I highly recommend staying at Patricia and Steve's home. They make you feel very much at home. If I need to "get away" again, I will probably stay there, if they'll have me. Thanks!

  • Wonderful experience.. The house is a perfect model house in the woods with all the luxuries & comforts of a resort. Beautiful wooden flooring, wide windows, lot of natural light, awesome shared spaces, peaceful, secure & safe. Patricia takes a good care of the house and the house & my room was crystal clean... Every corner was perfect. She is super responsive and a great host to stay with. Fully equipped & well spaced kitchen to cook your own food. A must stay if you are near the Martinsburg or Shepherdstown area...But ya you definately need to have your own mode of transportation...

We are 5 minutes from Charles Town Races and Hollywood Casino. 10 minutes from Harper's Ferry National Park, white water rafting and fishing on both the Shenandoah and Potomac rivers. Motor sports at Summit Point. 45 minutes from Dullas International Airport and Metro silver line. The space was an inlaw suite so it has everything you need for a short or long stay including laundry. It is attached to our home so we will be available to help. This apartment does have a private entrance.
Quiet country setting. Private entrance. Near Charles Town Races and Hollywood Casino. One hour from D.C. One and a half from Baltimore.
We are surrounded by farms. Mostly horses but also grain. On a quiet night you can hear the corn grow. Only 5 minutes from Charles Town so stores are convenient.

Ms Wind's House was built in 1976, and it retains many of the original design elements. From the refinished parquet floors to the avocado green bath tub, if you look for 1976 you will find it. Updates have been performed to merge the new with nostalgia. Ms Wind's House is perfect for a vacationing family or anyone traveling for business. It sits in a country setting, but is close to the city.
Ms Wind is an actual person; Ms Wind is a special person to my family. Because of this, Ms Wind's House is a special place for us. She was very proud of her little red house, and she worked hard to keep it nice. Ms Wind makes the best egg rolls, shrimp stir fry, and Pho in the Eastern Panhandle of West Virginia. For more pictures and history on Ms Wind's House follow @MsWindsHouse on Instagram, or search for #MsWindsHouse on Instagram.
Ms Wind's House is located in a close knit neighborhood where the neighbors know each other by name. If you need anything, or if you are looking for friendly conversation, then don't hesitate to say hello to one of the neighbors. There is a mix of locals and transplants, and any of them can help you navigate the area.

  • The rental was a nice little house in a great location. We explored from Harpers Ferry to Ranson and I don't think we ever drove more than 15 minutes at a time. Shaun and his wife have added modern touches to an older home to make it stylish and comfortable. Also Shaun was very easy to get in touch with and was a great host. If I had one complaint from the whole stay it would be that the weather was extremely humid and the window units could not keep up with dehumidifying the air inside the house. Otherwise everything was great!

    Whitney2017-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • For a stay in Charles Town, this place works great. Location is downtown and you can walk to various restaurants and a GREAT Irish pub, Paddy's. Have a DD if you want to go to the casino, Uber isn't in WV (found out the hard way). You can walk to a hotel and grab a shuttle from there; it's about a .6 mile walk. Josh still has some work to do for the apt.; be sure to communicate re: parking, lockbox. Could have been a little cleaner, but for the price and memories, it was a great place to stay.

    Catherine2017-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • Josh was responsive to every message, text and phone call. The apartment is clean overall, close to lots of restuarants, shops and things in Charles Town and close to Harpers Ferry. Easy to get into and easy to access, safe and everything you could need! Thanks for everything Josh.

  • Noise is a concern Need to get dark shades for bedroom for better sleep Easy check in and out Location is awesome

  • Josh's place is great. The description is very accurate.

    Garrett2017-03-25T00:00:00Z
  • Josh was responsive to all questions and came out personally to help us when we couldn't open the drop box. We came to get away and just relax, and that's what we got.

  • This was our second stay at Rockhill and the farm continues to charm. Comfortable accommodations with great local snacks (thanks!) and tons of character. We love saying hello to the goats and enjoying the quiet after a long day of hiking. Convenient to lots of local sites but secluded enough to really unwind, and the hosts are friendly and quick to respond. They even graciously accommodated our request to change our reservation when the flu laid us up on our originally scheduled weekend.

    Nicole2018-03-18T00:00:00Z
  • I wish I could give them 6 stars! The house is delightful--old and full of character and with a great porch for hanging out on--and the setting is lovely. The bed was very comfortable, with a nice array of pillows to choose from. There's a hammock in the yard, very comfy, and I enjoyed saying hi to the goats in the evening. Where the hosts went over and above was their flexibility. I told my cousin how cool the place was, and next thing I know she and her two young kids and my aunt want to come spend a night with me! James and Alix made up extra beds and got the Green Trim room set up on short notice, and my family had an excellent time. I can't wait till I have another reason to travel to Shepherdstown so I can stay here again!

    Jennie2017-08-04T00:00:00Z
  • We were very impressed with the setup, lots of amenities and about as close as "home" as you could get.

    Antanas2017-05-06T00:00:00Z
  • What a wonderful stay; the room was both carefully restored to be authentic to the original home that was built in 1840, yet still included all the comforts I expected. I felt immersed in the character of this place. In the morning I was able to hear birdsong from multiple birds on the property, and the goats were gathered at the fence to see me depart. I hope to return for another visit!

  • Clean and quaint farmhouse with a cute and friendly dog. A great place to unwind and relax

    Kate2019-05-13T00:00:00Z
  • A wonderful place for a quiet and relaxing getaway! The moment you drive down the private, tree-filled road, you feel like you're stepping back in time. The 1840 historic house is beautifully renovated, cozy, and tastefully decorated. A comfortable bed and pillows await the travel-weary in the Blue Room. James and Alix are so nice and helpful and we thoroughly enjoyed our time there. Would definitely stay here again and highly recommend this place to other travelers.

    Kathleen2017-07-10T00:00:00Z
  • This was a beautiful, secluded farm house with a fireplace, nice little wet bar, and lovely bedrooms and bathroom. I would love to go back and stay longer!

    Amanda2017-04-02T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our weekend at Rockland with our children. The rented wing of the house is completely private, and we loved the beautiful, historic home. Everything was clean and exactly as described. James and and Alix were wonderful hosts with great communication. If you are looking for a unique get-away spot to unplug, this is perfect! Easy access to Harpers Ferry, Shepherdstown, and Antietam/Sharpsburg. Highly recommended.

  • The place is nice, very generously aquiped. The beds are comfortable, TV is good, wifi is excellent. More cleaning is needed.

    Tal2017-08-04T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed here for one night between a winery day (very close to wineries in Purcellville, VA) and a day trip in Harper's Ferry. The location is great and it was easy to find street parking. We loved being above a brewery! Overall the space was very clean and comfortable. I wasn't a huge fan of the bathroom, but not necessarily because it wasn't clean, but because it was so outdated. Overall a great find!

    Kate2017-07-29T00:00:00Z
  • Finally an air bnb I would call perfect! The air was good. The location was right downtown historical Charleston. Smart TV, washer and Dryer in unit as well as full kitchen. This is better than the usual basement apartment. The bedroom looks out over the Main Street with cute shops and taverns. I would stay again for sure!

    David2017-09-28T00:00:00Z
  • The apartment is really quaint. I have never lived in an apartment, so staying there was a treat. It overlooks the Main Street in the historic district and has a nice view. It was really clean and the tavern noise was not an issue. I would definitely stay there again.

    Mara2019-03-17T00:00:00Z
  • Our family had a good experience at Josh's place. The condo had all of the amenities needed and easy check-in/out process. Short drive to Harpers Ferry. Would def stay again. Thank you for hosting.

    John2017-04-02T00:00:00Z
  • It's a great place in a good location. The host was helpful.

    Cary2019-06-30T00:00:00Z
  • The condo is in town, which is nice if you want to explore downtown. There are a few diners and restaurants in walking distance. My primary complaint about the condo is that if you're wanting 2 bedrooms for privacy (and it's during the summer), this isn't the place for you. There is a window unit in the Kitchen and a mobile unit connected in the living room. If you want to be able to shut the bedroom doors, you will not have AC. Even with the doors open, and the mobile unit on full blast, the bedrooms were still rather warm for sleeping conditions, in my opinion. I understand everyone has different temp preferences. This was disappointing for me since the primary reason I chose this place was because it was advertised as two bedrooms, and I was willing to pay more for privacy. I ended up paying $158 for one warm night and no privacy in West Virginia and this was disappointing for me.

    Lindsey2017-08-05T00:00:00Z
  • This is our second time staying. First time was on the 3rd floor. I felt this apartment on the 2nd floor had a better layout and was more stylish (even though 3rd floor is still very nice!) however as noted in the listing you can hear music from the bar below. With the AC and fans on it wasn’t noticeable and my son slept right through it. Check in at the bar was a little awkward but not an issue. Would definitely book and stay again.

  • We really enjoyed our stay. It was super clean and very convenient to many things in town. Would definitely stay here again! Loved everything about the place.

    Meagan2018-09-23T00:00:00Z
  • The decor was really lovely and restful- a beautiful, bright room. Very comfortable bed with delicious bedding. The patio was nice and we would have spent more time there if it were warmer. The shower was good, and there were abundant towels, soap, and shampoo in the pretty bathroom. The zinnias from the garden on top of the fireplace were a nice touch, and there were pretty mugs and a nice selection of Keurig cups by the coffeemaker. This was the first time we stayed in a “room” vs “whole place” through Air B&B, and the privacy was as promised - it felt like a separate apartment or hotel room. We would have liked a mini-fridge, but Diane let us use the fridge in her kitchen. Diane was a very good communicator and gave us tips about the area. She checked in during our visit to make sure things were fine. We loved being able to park there and walk to everything in Shepherdstown.

    Jen2018-10-21T00:00:00Z
  • Diane’s space was great. Only a 4 minute walk to downtown. Super clean, tranquil, and comfy. Diane was very hospitable and helpful.

    Katie2019-04-18T00:00:00Z
  • What a location, not only for historic and charming Shepherdstown, but for all of the related events, wonderful countryside, wineries and restaurants. Diane's home is less than a five minute walk to the town's delightful "main" street. A good number of restaurants and interesting shops line the street. The room she provides for guests is spacious, bright and very comfortable. The many windows provide the brightness that accents the wonderful decor. We will be returning guests. Be sure to meet Diane, a wonderful host! Catherine and Miguel

  • Beautiful home within a short walk from Downtown Sheperdstown! Diane is an outstanding host with lots of local tips about the area. Very clean, and a nice balcony overlooking Diane's beautiful garden. Short drive to other popular destinations like Harper's Ferry. Highly recommend for a stay in the Sheperdstown/Harper's Ferry area!

    Michael2019-08-06T00:00:00Z
  • Diane's guest suite was a perfect home base from which to explore charming Shepherdstown. We appreciated the quiet, friendly, small town creative vibe. It was great to meet Diane at check-in. She was warm and gracious with lots of helpful info on restaurants and things to do in the area. About the guest suite- the bed is very comfortable, shower is great and the room is sunny, private and peaceful. Loved the back garden too. Be sure to visit historic Harpers Ferry and do the Maryland Heights hike.

Discount Days 10/14-17 & 28-31. Save $30/day. Sitting atop a hill on 23 acres at historic Fairview Farm, Circa 1737, the newly built cottage is surrounded by pasture, organic gardens, history & overlooks the Harpers Ferry Gap. Within a few miles of Charles Town, Harpers Ferry, Shepardstown & the Hollywood Casino & Racetrack; the Appalachia trail, the Shenandoah & Potomac Rivers; and many historical sites - a day in WV’s great outdoors can conclude on our screened in porch watching the sunset.
We have pumpkins everywhere and fall is in the air. Thanksgiving is already booked but there are still open weeks in November and a few discount days in October. Plus, Christmas is still available! A romantic Christmas for two or bring the family for a memorable Holiday in the country. We can accommodate 6 people. Check out our photos to see the cottage tastefully bejeweled in beautiful, high end Christmas decor and the surrounding pastures dusted in snow. I can’t guarantee snow but I can promise a week of memories, like toasting marshmallows at the fire pit or an evening stroll on German St. in historic Shepardstown. Chartered in 1762, it is one of the two oldest towns in WV. The street lamps and historic buildings are all wrapped in white lights for the holidays, creating a scene that is postcard perfect, and it is just 8 miles from the cottage. The advantages of Fairview Farm go beyond the middle-of-everything location, the gardens and sweeping vistas. The perfect family, me-time get away or romantic destination. Parties of four or less, with a positive review and a completed profile can book automatically. A guest without previous reviews or a completed profile will need to send a request to book. The cottage can sleep up to six people, but parties over four will need to send a request to book. Please look thru photos. The property is beautiful dusted or covered in snow and bursts with color in Spring, Summer and Fall. It is a great destination for photographers or anyone who loves the serenity of a rural setting. Our historic barns, mountain views, gently rolling pastures, and the wildlife, including deer, barn swallows, eagles, blue jays, red cardinals, yellow finches and hummingbirds, ground hogs, red fox, bunnies, and the elusive coyotes that can be heard more than seen all make up Fairview Farm. You will also find: > a fire pit surrounded by large rocks and chairs for evening marshmallow toasting is just a short walk from the cottage. A stack of wood is provided. > the main house and cottage sit back from the street more than 1/4 mile so there is a feeling of seclusion without the isolation. > during the 4th of July celebration, there is a fantastic view of the fireworks from the side deck of the cottage or the front porch of the main house, where you are welcome to join us. And there is much more. In early spring the farm is planted with non GMO/organic seeds and then tended organically. This season has been very hard with high temps and torrential downpours, but most of the destruction to our gardens came from bunnies that have moved on to the property and are multiplying like...bunnies. If you sit quietly outside the cottage you are sure to see the little baby bunnies running in and out of the raspberry patch. We have unfortunately lost most of what was planted this 2019 season. There are several organic herbs in my kitchen, and flower gardens. Just ask if you need something for cooking- mint, basil, oregano, rosemary, thai basil. The kitchen is a cook's delight. There is a Keurig, toaster, blender, family size pressure cooker/crock pot and microwave. We've provided a nice set of cookware, and several pieces of Corning Ware that I have collected for years. If guests need a small appliance, such as a rice cooker, ice cream maker, griddle, etc. Please let us know. We have several small appliances that can be brought up to the cottage in just minutes. A large gas grill is also provided on the screened in porch. Please let us know in advance if you intend to use it so we can fill the propane tank. There is no dishwasher in the cottage. We provide a drying mat and several wood drying racks. In keeping with our organic lifestyle, we use as few chemical cleaners as possible in the cottage. We mainly use and provide vinegar or other cleaners without harsh chemicals. Please bring laundry soap if you plan on doing laundry during your stay. While we do not allow large, unruly parties, we can accommodate families or groups that would like to gather for a home cooked holiday meal at the cottage. We are happy to provide additional pots, pans, serving dishes, a full set of china and tables and seating, as needed. Just let us know. The cottage is furnished with an eclectic mix of high end contemporary furniture and vintage and antique pieces. My mother's and my taste combined into a space that all of our guests have raved about. The cottage was built for my mother in her later years. The Heywood Wakefield mid century bedroom suite in the master bedroom was her wedding gift from my grandparents in the late 1950s. Though she never moved in, all doorways, hallways, and the shower were designed to be wheelchair accessible. There is a 1/4 step to enter the porch, the cottage and the shower. The cottage will be tastefully decorated for holidays including a decorated tree for Christmas. If you, your family or friends are celebrating a birthday, anniversary or holiday we are happy to provide a home baked decorated cake or cookies for an additional fee. You can choose from many flavors, and types including glutton free, dairy free, vegan, or organic, even Keto. MOST IMPORTANTLY: We welcome everyone! We absolutely do not and will not discriminate based on race, religion, gender, or who you love. We will respect your privacy and only ask you respect our property. This a functioning small farm, surrounded by farms with all the smells, and noises of livestock and tractors. While the evenings are quiet, and the star filled skies, breathtaking, during planting, growing and harvest season work starts at sun up. Please expect a true farm life experience. Other Info: we were chosen to be the recipient of the largest tree planting along Elks Run by the Conservation Department of WV Forestry. With the help of volunteers, 150 Native trees have been planted along the creek to help prevent erosion. UPDATE: The remaining 150 trees have been planted. "Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, & narrow-mindedness... Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men & things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one's lifetime.” - Mark Twain
We are located on the main road that runs between Charles Town and Sheperdstown. There are grocery stores (Aldis, Weiss, and a Giant called Martins) CVS, Rite Aid, Sweetfrog, Home Depot, Kohls, a great nail salon, and several restaurants and fast food joints within 3 miles. All the conveniences of the suburbs, in a rural setting. The cottage is surrounded by farmland pastures. A working dairy farm is across the street and can be seen from the cottage. The pastures of a beautiful 60 acre farm that once bred black angus, backs to our property
  • Beautiful home on a lovely rural property. Within 5 minutes of shopping, dining, and the racetrack, but seems like you’re very far from town with the ambient setting. Owners live on site and are very helpful and interactive with guests. Whether it was fresh herbs or vegan baked goods, my hosts went above and beyond with their hospitality. The home’s decor was so charming and unique. I felt both safe and peaceful at this spot. Caught glimpses of little bunnies, a groundhog or two, deer, and an adorable miniature toad during my stay. The proximity to both Harpers Ferry and Shepherdstown is amazing. It was a delight to stay at home that is so lovingly cared for by earth-loving vegans.

  • We had never been to Sheperdstown before and we were pleasantly surprised. This little cottage is perfect for a couple or in our case, a family of four. It was pristine when we arrived, and since it is newer construction, it feels brand new. The homemade Christmas cookies and Christmas decorations were an awesome touch. It is about 6 or 7 minutes into the town, a nice rural drive. We will visit again and highly recommend. Only suggestion we have is to move the fire pit a bit closer to the cottage. In our case with one baby sleeping, we didn't want to leave him in the house and go down the hill to roast marshmallows with our older child. Besides that, it's perfect.

    Ashley2018-12-28T00:00:00Z
  • My girlfriend and I felt well-taken care of by Dina and Kevin! The location offered privacy and a lovely view while being a reasonable distance from most destinations in the area. Everything was clean, roomy, and stylish. Also, Carnival glass fans will love the kitchen decor. :)

  • A great place if you’re looking to get away. Amazing host and a beautiful cottage.

  • This cottage is so beautiful and is also within a beautiful countryside setting. Communication with Dina was a breeze and was very quick, plus she made us muffins before we came in! The cottage was spotless, there is a large fridge, Keurig, TV, fireplace, as well as an enclosed outside area. It was perfect! Would definitely recommend.

    Heather2019-05-17T00:00:00Z
  • The hosts went over and above what should be expected of them. The house is lovely, well-stocked, and comfortable. It's a wonderful area with several quaint little towns only minutes away, several coffee shops, and hiking and outdoor options. The house is in the country but close to so many things!

    Theresa2018-12-24T00:00:00Z
  • We recently spent 3 nights at Dina’s place in VA. The place is perfect for a quiet and relaxing getting away although there are plenty of small towns to visit as well as stuff to do if you’re looking to head out and about. We had a great stay and will definitely look to stay here again when next in town.

    Paul2019-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • Dina's place is comfortable and very pretty. It's tucked away, so it's the perfect little getaway - we even saw a beaver roaming outside! I used this as a retreat space for my team, so I can't comment on the sleeping arrangements specifically, but it was a lovely home :)

  • This spot was the perfect location and very clean! It was nice to be able to walk around downtown Charles Town and very convenient to Hollywood Casino, Harpers Ferry and Shepherdstown. The bartenders downstairs and locals offered suggestions on local attractions/eateries. We were able to find parking right out front. Check-in/out was easy and smooth. We did experience some road noise in the master bedroom due the portable air conditioner in the window, but it wasn't too bad and didn't keep us from resting well. The full size refrigerator and washer/dryer was very nice; there was no table or chairs but we ate out so we didn't need them anyways. And if you're a beer drinker, you can't beat the great brews just steps away!

    Allie2018-09-23T00:00:00Z
  • This space was perfect for my family. My son's stayed in the bunks while my wife and I had our own room at the other end of the apartment. The kitchen is gorgeous! The owners were extremely helpful as the AC was broken in the living room and they setup extra fans to help battle the heat. You can tell the building is old, but they have done a nice job renovating and making it look more modern. You won't be disappointed.

    Marc2019-07-23T00:00:00Z
  • Nice place, new and clean, big TV, lots of extra things you might need, coffee, creamer, extra razors.

    Blake2018-05-06T00:00:00Z
  • My husband and i stayed for a night after a long day at Antietam battlefield. The check in was super easy and with not a lot to do in the town it was nice to be able to just walk downstairs to the Ale house. The bartender was awesome! I would def recommend trying some pizza and beer. My only criticism is the bathtub. I am on the shorter side and the tub is high with nothing to hold onto to get in but the wall. Now for me it was fine but if an older couple stays it could be difficult for them to get in and out of. Thanks again for an awesome stay!

    Natalie2018-07-15T00:00:00Z
  • Our room was private and above any ground level noise. We enjoyed the fact that this historical building was so clean. Customers in the Ale house were extremely helpful. Thank you for a memorable stay!

    Janice2018-06-28T00:00:00Z
  • Very Spacious. Every room has its own air conditioner so we all got to make our rooms the temperature we wanted them to be. Great bar downstairs! We thought it would be noisy, but we couldn’t hear a single noise from below. Can’t wait to go back. Thank you for everything!

  • Nice location-it was quiet. The apartment it self was a bit bare bones, clean but could be maintained a bit better.

It absolutely smells amazing everywhere you go too! I too am going to buy some bath and body work room sprays now! Her kitchen was well organized for a guest to use. although joy and I never got to meet, she was always available by message and was accommodating for my late arrivals. Joy is very thoughtful and kind. I would stay here again. It’s in a nice town home within a quiet and safe community. With a car you can get to many shops within 5 minutes. Thank you!

  • Ogla and Henk's house was centrally located in the town, walking distance to main road full of restaurants. but when you get inside their property, you feel like you are in the beautiful country side, so calm and relaxing with 2 ace garden and so many amenities, beautifully designed. (Zen garden, hot tube, etc.) my husband and I stayed there for a weekend getaway for his birthday. we received a surprise Champaign bottle with flowers and nice card in our room. very nice touch :) being an architect, I truly enjoyed all the historic details of the house and their amazing eclectic decors and furniture. in the morning, Henk cooked us the best breakfast and we had a long wonderful conversation. I have already recommended this place to couple of my friends for their weekend getaway. we will be back there soon and can't wait to see Olga this time since she was out of the country while we were there.

    Natasha2015-10-11T00:00:00Z
  • A magical place for a getaway.

  • Olga and her husband Frank were the perfect hosts. I've stayed inane Airbnb's and this one rates very high on my list. Check in was easy and I was very relaxed at their home. It's a beautiful home on a wonderful piece of property with gardens and fountains . The bed and room was very comfortable. I thoroughly enjoyed the jacuzzi and sauna. Breakfast was delicious and served in the beautiful dining room. This home is walkable distance to downtown Charles town and even a good location to explore beautiful Harpers Ferry and D.C. I would definitely stay here again if I'm the area. Beautiful, sweet hosts !

    Judith "Kim"2017-07-25T00:00:00Z
  • I booked the property to accommodate the photographer for my wedding. Olga was incredibly gracious and helpful in arranging this! The report from my photographer after her stay: "What an amazing place! Our stay was very comfortable, the food was excellent, the cat was friendly and the host was lovely! We will certainly return for future stays."

    Adam2017-06-04T00:00:00Z
  • Our host, Olga, made us feel so welcome at her beautiful home! She is an excellent conversationalist, a great cook, and a gracious host. She made sure that we were very comfortable and that we knew about area attractions, excellent dining nearby, relaxing areas of her home and grounds, and the many wonderful places to walk to nearby. It is obvious that she loves having guests stay in her historic home and that she takes great pride in sharing her comfortable and tastefully decorated spaces with others. Her Maison du Soleil is a must see in Charles Town and we can't wait to go back for another visit with Olga in her lovely retreat in the very near future.

    Laurie2016-10-07T00:00:00Z
  • The house and grounds are beautifully maintained and Hank and Olga are exceptional hosts! They're very welcoming and accommodating. They greeted us with wine and snacks and provided a printed list of recommendations for sights in the area. Each morning, they prepared an impressive brunch for us! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Group deals available.
This paneled bedroom with a full bed on the first floor once functioned as the farm office for the VanMetre's dairy and renowned Country Ham business. The knotty pine paneling is said to come from shipping crates that transported milk and dairy products produced on the farm back and forth to the soldiers fighting in Europe in World War I. This room is named for the Hunter family. Major Moses Hunter married General Adam Stephen's daughter Ann. He and Ann had one son, Adam Stephen Dandridge. The recent generations of VanMetres were widely-known for their country ham business.
This is part of what was once a large historic farm, but now only 10 acres of it remain. You will probably see some chickens and cows. Stone House Mansion is within a 30-minute drive to historic destinations in Harpers Ferry, WV, Winchester, VA, and Sharpsburg, MD. Visit the nearby Charles Town Racetrack and Casino. Also within a 30-minute drive visitors can enjoy outdoor activities, including hiking, fishing, whitewater rafting, and biking or hiking the C&O Canal or Appalachian Trail. It is convenient to the highway and less than a mile to a supermarket. The new Route 9 bike trail between Charles Town and Martinsburg, WV borders the property. The State has placed a historical marker about Stone House Mansion on the bike path!
  • We really enjoyed our stay. Barbara and Donald were very gracious and personable. I really enjoyed chatting with them about all the history of the home. They even came out to see us at the rabbit show we were there for. The house was clean and comfortable and I feel our hosts went above and beyond to welcome us. Will definitely be coming back

  • A very comfortable place to rest and relax. Donal and Barbara are an amazing Host/Hostess couple! They go above and beyond to make sure everything is exactly what I needed while I their home. Will definitely be returning

    Wendy2018-12-20T00:00:00Z
  • The hosts were out of town, but their daughter was on hand to greet us. Our's was a quick stop-over en route further south. All communicated well with us and were open to our possible late check in and early departure. The room and common areas were clean and functional (bathroom, kitchen, parlor). Self-serve coffee and light breakfast. Large parlor where we were able to engage with other guests. Country setting, but close enough to 81 (about 5 mi) to quickly continue our trek in the morning.

    Doris2017-05-20T00:00:00Z
  • Loved how easy it was to get on the interstate but also had a very historic feel. Would definitely go back!

    Jaclyn2017-09-30T00:00:00Z
  • I stayed at Donald and Barbara's a year ago and was eager to return this January. The house is very solid and so, even in the coldest temperatures, it is very comfortable and not at all drafty (as one could expect an older house to be). The kitchen is very cozy and has everything you could need. Everything is lovely, and the living room with the beautiful fireplace mantel is a gorgeous touch when you first walk in the door. Next time, I hope to have time enough to enjoy sitting in the living room, and having a sit-down breakfast in the sunny kitchen.

    Janina2018-01-07T00:00:00Z
  • House has interesting history and is well maintained. Enjoyed the tour and history given but missed having the host and hostess in the house. The Hunter room is a distance from the bathroom having to go through the front parlor and kitchen and hallway to get to the bathroom from the bedroom.

Captain Dandridge served as an Aide-de-Camp on the staff of General George Washington during the Revolutionary War. Captain Alexander Spotswood Dandridge died in 1785. He and Ann had one son, Adam Stephen Dandridge.
This is part of what was once a large historic farm, but now only 10 acres of it remain. You will probably see some chickens and cows. Stone House Mansion is within a 30-minute drive to historic destinations in Harpers Ferry, WV, Winchester, VA, and Sharpsburg, MD. Visit the Charles Town Racetrack and Casino while in Charles Town. Also within a 30-minute drive visitors can enjoy outdoor activities, including hiking, fishing, whitewater rafting, and biking or hiking the C&O Canal and Appalachian Trail. The bike path between Charles Town and Martinsburg, West Virginia borders the property. The State has installed a historical marker about Stone House Mansion on the bike path! It is convenient to the highway and about a half mile to a convenience store with gas station.
  • My girlfriend and I had a great weekend at the Stone House Mansion. The house was beautiful and it was a treat to stay in such a historic place. Donald and Barbara were very knowledgeable about the history of the area and were also able to give us tips on places to go in the area. The house is not far from the highway, which made it convenient to navigate to Harper's Ferry and Shepherdstown.

  • Our gracious hosts Donald and Barbara provide a wonderful place, very much a period piece for guests with an historical sensibility. Attractive furniture, a really nice bed, the finest of linens. All the amenities are thoroughly modern and spick-&-span, with a superb shower -- and the Wifi has definitely been upgraded since 1757! The house is so large we felt we had it all to ourselves, with quiet and privacy for a restful night. Strongly encourage those searching in the tri-state area to give the Stone House Mansion a try. It's located conveniently between Harpers Ferry, Charles Town, and other destinations.

  • Excellent place for a weekend away. It is a beautiful home, and Don and Barb have done an amazing job restoring the home and making it comfortable and homey inside. Don and Barb provided great advice on where to eat and explore nearby, and they even have sample menus from nearby places. If you have a car, it is conveniently located to nearby Harpers Ferry, Shepardstown, and Antietam. Believe me, we saw all three! What’s great about this home and the hosts are all the little details both in keeping the charm and character of the home and providing modern comforts. The rooms are beautifully furnished and decorated, shampoo and towels are provided in the bathrooms, and coffee is stocked up in the kitchen. What a great stay. You won’t regret it!

  • Beautiful and historic property. Barbara and Donald were easy to communicate with. Great stay.

    Shan2019-03-10T00:00:00Z
  • Donald and Barbara were very accommodating to our arrival and took time to show us where everything was. Room was spacious, wifi worked well, and bathroom comfortable. Location is good for anyone who wants to check out Harpers Ferry / Antietam without paying an arm and a leg. Although we didnt use the kitchen, it looked like it was stocked well and had all the appliances one would need. Only small downsides, the bed was a pretty soft for our taste. Also, a window may have been slightly open before we arrived but a few bugs (ones that dont bite, just fly around lights) got into the room. Due to the age of the house (it's a historic landmark so that is a good thing) the floors are a bit creaky and the walls a bit thin. There were not many other guests, but there was a baby who we could hear crying quite clearly in the morning. If you can accept these small shortcomings, I would wholeheartedly recommend you stay here, I know Donald and Barbara have just fixed up this house and started Airbnb and you can tell they really take pride in it. I know they are making some more additions, which will make this house even better.

  • This beautiful home is off the beaten path 5-15 minutes from several small, historic towns. Many rooms are available and the entire 1st and 2nd floor appear to be for rent so it would be great for groups. If you're into history, this house and this area in general are a great place to stay!

  • Don and Barbara's place is everything it is described as - a wonderful sense of history and at the same time, a really comfortable place with all the modern amenities. Don and Barbara were great hosts - even though we were late getting in, they waited to welcome us and take us round the house. Enjoyed talking to both of them Highly recommended - lovely place to stay

  • What a delight it was to visit a house so connected to early American history, especially since it has a connection to our family's ancestors. Donald and Barbara were such attentive hosts and it was a wonderful experience to stay in their home. Even though we were sharing the house with others, everyone there was very respectful of our privacy and our needs. The house set-up is very conducive to this. Donald and Barbara go out of their way to make you feel at home. We hope to go back for a future visit and to do more genealogy research.

  • I like Donald and Barbara's love of the history of the farm. Very interesting. It is in a great location, close to many sights. Some guests are long term, but they have a nice system between themselves for bathroom and kitchen use. It was not a problem. I like the big refrigerator and being able to make my own breakfast and just toss dishes into the dishwasher. A comfortable and historic place.

  • This was my second time at Stone Mansion and it did not disappoint! Barbara and Donald were welcoming and available if needed. As a single woman traveling alone feeling safe is huge and that is how I feel staying there. My room was clean, my bed was comfy and having a kitchen to use helped me with expenses! I have already booked another stay! I would highly recommend staying here!
