As much or little as I sense your prefer
Frankfurt prides itself on being both the largest city in the German state of Hesse and also the largest financial centre in Europe.
Famous for its breathtaking skyline along the River Main, Frankfurt is the most " truly" international city in Germany.
While most people, like us, moved to Frankfurt because of their jobs; the city is charming and brimming with history and culture. There are in-demand shopping outlets, impressive museums, interesting historic sites and world-class opera theatres to enjoy. Also, travel to the Rheingau Wine region and the Taunus Forest ( the Feldberg invites in the winter for sledging due to frequent snow and in the summer wonderful hiking tours) is in 20min accessible.
In our immediate neighborhood you get anything from Persian, Indian, Thai, Croatian, Turkish, Italian food to, of course, typical Frankfurt kitchen. Take a bike and ride through the fields and apple tree farms - or go to the city center.
- 2min walk Metro station towards downtown
- 2 bus stations around the house for access to surrounded places
A few tips on the surrounding:
Start your day by going jogging at the river nearby or have an ice cream at the ice cream parlor. There are some playgrounds for the little ones close by.
http://www.Zumbaeren.net --> located at "Höchster Schlossplatz" (castle square) Take bus 55 across from the gas station for 2 stations to "Leverkuser Strasse". Just walk down towards the river main or ask someone for directions. Nice, Frankfurt kitchen and typical, old town feeling.
http://www.derloewe.eu --> recommended by the Frankfurt restaurant guide and only 15-20Min walk from the house. Turn right on Sindlinger Bahnstrasse and keep walking until you see the restaurant on your right hand side. A little pricy but very good German food.
http://cassavia.de --> authentic Italian pizza place/ restaurant with changing menu and homemade food. Also to order pizza. You turn left on Sindlinger Bahnstrasse, pass the round about and walk one block to a green building.
Asia Bistro: across from the Italian restaurant with good , basic Asian food at fair prices. The ambience is very minimalistic but everything is as well for take away.
ALDI supermarket: turn right on Sindlinger Bahnstrasse and walk 5-10Min. Low cost food store
REWE supermarket: turn left on Sindlinger Bahnstrasse, pass round about and keep walking. Smaller selection but with service.
Bakeries: across from REWE Market. The first one is family owned with very good Brötchen called " Mailaender".
If you keep walking there is a second one. It is a small chain and you can have typical german breakfast there as well.
METRO: cross Sindlinger Bahnstrasse, walk right. The station is located within a 2 min walk at the bridge. Take S1 towards Rödermark and exit "Hauptwache" to be in the city center. A map should also be in the apartment on the dining room closet. When you exit the station "Hauptwache" there is a small glass building close the the church which is the tourism office. You can get all information needed there as well.
