Storyteller Raphael and art historian Florentine welcome you to their 18th Century Amsterdam home. But first Florentine will take you around their neighborhood for a 1.5 hour tour along the Jewish Portuguese Synagoge, the house of the Six family, Waterlooplein and the Nieuwmarkt. A tour full of stories about the (Jewish) history of the neighborhood.
When Flo showed you around, Rapha stood in the Kitchen. The tour surely made us hungry so you'll be our guests. Raphael cooked traditional Jewish food. It's not been said before but he used to be a cook in Israel. Even more important he payed very close attention when his Jewish/Iranian grandmother did her magic in the kitchen. The smell of rosewater, saffron and aubergine fills the house, candles on the table and a view over the canals when you sit down. Our house also keeps a secret.....It has an achterhuis (secret annex). A special goose bumps story about our achterhuis will be told by Rapha during the dinner. We're happy to have you as our guests. Lechaim!
Other things to note
Please let us know if you're vegetarian!

We're a couple who loves to host dinners at our place and we've a common interest in food: Rapha cooks and Florentine eats. Besides eating we love good wine, art, books, spirituality, stories and meeting really nice people.
Raphael Rodan is a storyteller, actor and director of the Amsterdam Storytelling festival (www.storytellingfestival.nl). Born and raised in Israel. Six years ago he moved to Amsterdam and since that day he enriched the city with his stories and our guests with his cooking (which he learned from his Jewish/Iranian grandmother).
Florentine is an art historian, her romantic soul brought her to live in Paris and Rome during her studies. Now she's back, she knows the Amsterdam art world inside and out. And because talking about art is what she knows and loves best she started Insider Art Tours (www.insiderarttours.)
