I'll take you on a guided walk to all the Broadway theaters, from the Broadway to The New Amsterdam, ending up at famous Sardi's Restaurant for a farewell glass of wine. You'll learn about the history of each theater: who sang on what stages, juicy gossip, anecdotes, even ghost stories. Along the way, I will show you rare photos of how the theaters looked in their heyday from 1905 to the present. Hear the story of famed George M. Cohan statue and other lore. As we walk, I'll talk about my career, writings, and what it was like to work with Ethel Merman, Mary Martin, Chita Rivera, Gavin McLeod, Marlo Thomas, Marni Nixon, and many others. As the winter weather hits, remember that NYC never shuts down and if we wear warm coats and hats and gloves, we can see all the great sights of Broadway and wind up at Sardi's for a nice warming glass of wine or a cup of coffee. Rest room breaks upon request!
I am a friendly, gregarious & fun host. As a long time writer of musicals, I will tell you inside stories and histories about Broadway and Times Square. From the ghosts that haunt the theatres to the stars I knew well, I will bring you into the inner circle of Broadway and its stars, both past and present. My produced musicals include "After the Fair," "The Road to Qatar!", & "Casper." I also wrote the first American musical to premiere in the Middle East, "Aspire." I have guided hundreds of visitors on this Broadway tour through theater history. For more about me see www.stephencolewriter.org
