This beautiful, serene, and wooded location is just minutes from Lake Garfield in Monterey Mass, in the heart of the Berkshires. The room has a private en suite bath and a view of our 14 acres of backyard and woods.
The bedroom is airy and has ample space and a comfortable double bed. It's the only bedroom on the second floor of our modern, newly built house.
There's a large private bathroom and access to the living room and to our pristine, woods-surrounded backyard and gardens. You could even walk down to the brook that runs through our woods and take a dip. During winter the brook takes on wonderful ice forms as the moving water allows differential freezing! Your bedroom has its own thermostat so you can be as cool or as toasty as you want when you're there.
We are 2 minutes by car and 10 minutes walking distance from the Monterey town beach (Lake Garfield) where you can swim, canoe or Kayak, fish, and enjoy the beautiful views. Take a walk or a drive to the General Store which has recently been taken over by a prominent chef and offers delicious breakfast and lunch, and lovely outdoor riverside dining. There's also the Roadside Cafe, the best local breakfast in the Berkshires!
We are 15 mins from Great Barrington, a close drive from Tanglewood, Jacob's Pillow, The Norman Rockwell Museum, Chesterwood, Stockbridge, Lenox, and all the Berkshire attractions both north and south.
We are here if you need anything. In summer, you will find me puttering around in the garden, which is my favorite activity. In winter, I tend to do my puttering inside, enjoying a fire in the wood stove in the living room which can heat the entire upstairs. You are free to come and go as you please and enjoy your vacation!
Coffee and/or tea will always be available in the morning. The Monterey General Store has excellent breakfast offerings and is less than a mile away. Another popular Monterey breakfast spot is the Roadside Cafe, operated by Gould Farm. Great Barrington's well-known breakfast eatery is Martin's.
I recently retired from over 30 years of working in Molecular Biology in the Boston area to my home in Monterey, MA where I have ample time to garden, play with my grandchildren, and enjoy the amazing landscape and four distinct Berkshire seasons.
