Our home near the beautiful Julimar State Forest, Avon River and the historic town of Toodyay is serene with amazing night skies and abundant animal life.
We are suitable for couples, solo adventurers or those just wanting to stop and take stock of life, visit the nearby Observatory, Archery Park or enjoy one of the regular festivals e.g. Music, Fibre, Avon Descent.
Bedrooms are fitted with privacy locks and have access to secure wifi, a breakfast of cereal/tea/coffee is provided.
We have two private rooms both with queen beds, great for couples traveling together.
Due to the lack of ambient light the night sky is truly amazing and we have a deep space telescope for those who enjoy sky gazing.
We have an extensive library of both books, board-games and DVD's that guests are welcome to use while staying with us.
We also have binoculars and field guides for plants, insects, birds and wildlife that guests can use for day or night stalks.
There are spaces set up for those who enjoy art or carpentry and might like to indulge while on their break or try your hand at Bocce on the outdoor court.
With the exception of our private bedrooms guests are free to inhabit the entire house and grounds and come and go as they please.
We are happy to sit and chat and help guests out or to leave you in peace, we will take our lead from you.
Please note that this is our family home and you will be sharing it with us. We encourage you to make the most of what we have to offer and hope you will feel at ease to come and go as you please and to simply do your own thing.
Guests are welcome to cook in the kitchen, use the BBQ, ask us for recommendations for a restaurant. House rule re washing up is if you you use it then you wash it :) We provide a shelf in the cool room where guests can store their food and drink provisions and we supply cereal, tea & coffee, milk etc for breakfast, Sundays we do a cooked breakfast that you're welcome to join us at no charge.
Please note that being a small country town opportunities to dine out are limited and so if you are arriving late in the evening you are probably best to bring something with you to cook for dinner or stop and eat along the way as most of the places to eat in town stop serving food around 9.00 pm
Our property is a registered habitat for wildlife property with plenty of visitors.
We have two cats and a dog, our dog is named Sheba and is very friendly and well trained. Our two cats are named Sardine (smokey grey) and very friendly likes to be patted, then there is Kitty (grey and white) does not like to be petted.
We keep guest room doors closed to prevent pets from entering to ensure that those with allergies are not subjected to pet dander, we ask that you do the same.
We are on tank water and so ask guests to use water wisely, once the tanks are empty we have to ship in water, something we don't like doing as nothing beats the taste of pure rain water.
Guests are welcome to harvest food from both the orchard and the vegetable garden, all of which are organic when things are available. We also harvest our own honey from our hive which guests are welcome to use when available.
In summer when walking guests need to take care as reptiles can be found in the area.
