Our Place is good for couples and solo adventurers. It is very peaceful and tranquil, to help you forget all your worries of life today. it is also near to the Two Moors Way between Dartmoor and Exmoor. There are local walks for you to enjoy too.
The cabin is a little gem, very comfortable and quiet, perfect for getting away from it all. Caroline provided a tasty cake on our arrival, had a toasty fire going in the woodburner, made sure we knew where everything was on our arrival and left us to it. The cabin contains everything you could need - a small but well-stocked kitchen area, a comfortable bed, lovely hot shower and plenty of room to spread out and relax. There is information for local eateries, petrol stations, local attractions and essential services. We had the run of the garden, which was perfect for our dog, and the verandah would have been perfect had we had more sun. It is a perfect location to explore from!! Overall a fantastic destination and perfect hosts.
Caroline and Ivor were great hosts and their Log cabin is ideal for couples with dogs. The wood burner is very efficient and keeps the cabin warm and cosy. The bed is comfortable and the furniture and equipment supplied appropriate to the type of holiday that is offered. Little treats await not to mention absolute peace and quiet though should the need arise to contact the outside world, television and the internet are provided. The garden is good space to be able to keep the dogs happy whilst using the cabin and our Jack Russell (under a watchful eye) did not manage to get out! The public house in Morchard Bischop supply good tasty food in generous portions at a reasonable price and allow well behaved dogs into the bar/lounge and the land lady Vera an excellent hostess and character. The village shop is useful for basic provisions and service with a smile but for more choice Tiverton and Crediton offer the bigger supermarkets. If you enjoy walking there are set walks detailing pathways around Morchard Bischop downloadable at: (URL HIDDEN) We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and are sure you will too!
The cabin was delightful. We stayed for a few nights at the end of the school holiday before my teacher girlfriend returned to work. We were looking for peace and quiet and that's exactly what we found. After meeting us when we arrived and giving a quick tour of the cabin we were left to our own devices. Had we needed anything I'm sure Caroline or her husband would have been ready to assist but we didn't need anything at all. The cabin has everything we could possibly want. We even had a delicious home-made cake and everything we needed for breakfast the first morning. (Bacon, eggs, bread, etc.) This as well as all the crockery, kitchen implements, soap, shampoos, books, tourist info, walk guides, logs/coal, etc. The owners have been very thoughtful about their guests needs. We took a couple of day trips out. One to Fingle Bridge, that Caroline had recommended, where we had lovely food at the pub there and a very picturesque walk up the river to Castle Drogo for tea before heading back. The other trip was to the Broomhill Hotel and Sculpture Gardens near Ilfracombe. The food was amazing! The grounds and sculptures were great too and we enjoyed wandering around digesting lunch. Heartily recommend it. After our days out it was really nice to come back to the cosy little cabin, light the fire and relax together. It was the perfect location for a bit of downtime before going back to the daily grind and we wished we'd been able to stay for longer. Maybe next time!
A really comfortable, nicely furnished and equipped log cabin which is very private. Caroline and Ivor were excellent hosts and made me (and my dog) very welcome. Caroline provided bacon, eggs, beans, bread, butter and milk which was great for me since I was walking the Two Moors Way and wasn't carrying food. Caroline very kindly lit the log burner in advance of my arrival on an unseasonably wet and cold day so the cabin was nice and warm when I arrived. When I mentioned on the day I was leaving that I was planning to arrange a taxi to shorten that day's walk, Caroline immediately offered me a lift and Ivor dropped me in Witheridge 7 miles away. In summary a really enjoyable experience.
This is a lovely log cabin in Caroline and Ivor's garden. It is beautifully kept with wood burning stove, and everything you could need for a quiet break away. Our hosts left us to ourselves but were on hand should we have needed anything. The village pub does amazing food with good veggie selection (v important for us) - people come from miles around to eat there - but was a bit too far away for us to walk back from along the dark Devon lanes. A lovely relaxing stay and we certainly recommend to others and hope to go back again ourselves.
