Due to COVID-19 there are lockdowns in place across the UK and travel is not permitted other than in limited circumstances until at least April. Failure to follow the law is a criminal offence.
Our period home is set in the heart of the charming village of Portaferry on the shores of Strangford Lough. It has been renovated throughout to provide all the mod cons whilst still retaining its character. Its excellent location, only 40mins from Belfast, provides a wonderful base to explore Co. Down; incl. Strangford, Castle Ward (Game of Thrones location) and the Mourne Mountains. Portaferry has plenty to offer with shops, restaurants/pubs, the Portico arts venue and Exploris Aquarium.

Our home is a beautiful, characterful property in a pretty lough shore village. The house has two bedrooms - #1 has a double bed and #2 has a low, full size bunk bed in which 2 adults or 2 children can sleep very comfortably. A travel cot is also available and can be used in either room.
The kitchen has fitted units, oven, hob with extractor hood, sink, microwave, fridge with ice box, washing machine and tumble dryer. The lounge has comfy seating, TV with Freesat and a cosy wood burning stove (logs not supplied) and you can watch the world go by at the dining table by the front window.
Upstairs the bathroom has a large shower cubicle with power electric shower; WC and basin. Free wifi is available throughout the house; and there are extra touches such as hairdryer, straighteners, portable blackout blind; and of course fresh bed linens and towels.
All the local amenities - restaurants, cafes, grocery stores, butchers, bakery and pubs - are only a short stroll from the house. There is also free parking right beside the house. The area itself is an 'Area of Oustanding Natural Beauty' and nearby you have glorious walks, beaches and several National Trust properties; as well as access to the Mournes and wider County Down area.
We've done our best to make this a comfortable and stylish home-from-home for our family and our guests, so we hope you enjoy it!

Guests are welcome to make use of anything in the house and are just asked to respect it like their own home. The cupboards are stocked with basics and there are even a few toys to keep little ones amused! All the village amenities are only a short stroll away from your front door.

This is a family home that we use on occasion so there are a some personal effects stored at the home. Guests are more than welcome to make use of anything they need or ingredients in the cupboards to enjoy their stay. We want to keep costs down so logs etc for the stove are not provided but can be easily purchased in the nearby shop(s).

We love eating out at the Salthouse restaurant or having an ice cream at the shore from Blayneys. Take the ferry over to Strangford where there are also lots of restaurants on offer or simply enjoy watching the seals on your way over!

Married to my hubby Ruairi and we have two great lads. Also a host on Airbnb so we look after anywhere we go.

Guests have the house entirely to themselves. We don't live on site but are only a short drive away and can be available by phone and email.
