I was aware that Stephen had advised that floors needed additional mopping as well as the matter of the leak. To compensate in that matter I sent $150 as a gesture of goodwill for the inconvenience. The areas that should have been attended to such as trash can, rugs, dirt/dust under couch could have been easily handled by the cleaner and apparently were not. Therefore, I will further compensate Stephen by refunding the cleaning fee of $195--we truly appreciate the families understanding. That being said, some of the other items listed are inherent with island living/weather (rain/humidity) that we experience on the windward side. In 2018 we have had a tremendous amount of rain in February into March, (more than I can recall in years) that contributes to musty smells particularly in the utility closet where the leak occurred or under kitchen sink. Furthermore, it is important to remember that the home promotes indoor/outdoor living given it is "very open" which makes the control of dust sometimes difficult not to mention the matter of "animal spots" which I assume are gecko droppings. Although we do our best to keep up with these creatures and others (monthly pest control) they are synonymous with island life. That being said, I am not aware of "exposed wiring" and if there is an outlet not working we will do a full review of those items.
I am always appreciative of feedback as it is our desire to provide a comfortable and clean environment. It is extremely important to me that the home is a good fit for our guests. If I believe the home is not suitable for them I will let them know in advance given the "unique" attributes of the home. Given this recent experience I may change my booking procedures by not allowing automatic bookings and will call Air BnB for additional guidance.
