We’re so glad the Merrit family enjoyed their trip!! :) They had a couple of friends join them for 10 days. Natacha’s husband emailed us to tell us how happy they were. We received an email with a big “Merci Merci Merci! It’s PARADISE!” :)
Natacha had a few demands but we believe we were able to resolve all of them. Even though our listing indicates we prefer to rent to adults only, we agreed to make an exception. Our own hyperactive children grew up in this house and there was never a problem. To make Natacha feel safe we bought a child safety alarm for the swimming pool and hired someone to install it. We also had 2 barriers installed for her kids safety on one of the terraces. All at no extra costs.
The villa is as authentically Provençal as can be, and the many acres of outdoor areas are landscaped on multi-levelled terraces, so there aren’t any large flat grass playing fields like you would find in Normandy. The villa is surrounded by beautiful lush Mediterranean vegetation everywhere, this is deliberate and a major part of its charm. All the passageways are clear of any cactuses or other plants. If the wind blows, you might find some leaves and flower petals in the pool. The pool guy comes once a week. Using the pool net is usually good enough in-between visits, but we will make sure the pool guy comes more often just in case. The gardener usually comes every 4 days but after the second visit he wasn’t able to access the house because the Merritts broke the garage door lock and we sent a locksmith to replace it, and the gardener only had the old key. He still made multiple attempts to come by but the family wasn’t home so he couldn’t enter and we didn’t want to impound on their vacation schedule.
The kitchen was completely renovated 4 years ago but it is a Provençal kitchen so you won’t find a gigantic island in the middle, "California-style" :) However it is equipped with 2 dishwashers, a huge fridge/freezer, oven, large stove, micro-wave etc. And also a huge pantry. We will definitely buy more pots and pans and even more knives as we welcome any feedback :) In addition there is a kitchenette in the guest house as well.
Throughout the stay a few items were broken, including, mainly, the garage lock, and kitchenware. All the outdoor lightings were left turned on for 3 weeks in spite of clear indications and reminders on how to turn off during daylight. However we did not charge Natacha for anything, not even for any of the broken items. Our goal has always been from start to finish to ensure our guests spend a fantastic and memorable time. We were always very responsive and communicated with Natacha as often as she needed via airbnb, texts or phone.
We hope the Merritts took great family vacation memories home, and we wish them a great 'back-to-school' season with the kids!
