This is an above garage apartment with side entrance off the deck. Water views since the ocean is right across the road. Public beach at Bridge's Point is less than a half mile away. This property is not heated but there are a couple space heaters available after August. All linens supplied. Well behaved dogs are welcome with prior approval.
Located on the southern tip of the Blue Hill peninsula, and within walking distance to the ocean, this spot makes for a lovely getaway. Just two miles away is the center of Brooklin with a great general store, library, pub and restaurant. Brooklin is home to many talented artists, writers, and wooden boat builders as well as Wooden Boat magazine and school. EB White's former home, a farmhouse is located in North Brooklin. Mount Desert Island is about an hour away(allow for a little longer in the summer) and offers the astoundingly beautiful Acadia National Park and the popular town of Bar Harbor. If you drive in the opposite direction you can cross the Deer Isle/Stonington bridge and take a day exploring extremely beautiful scenery, rent kayaks and explore islands, or shop and dine in downtown Stonington or the village of Deer Isle itself. If you make your way to Caterpillar Hill you will be rewarded with one of the most beautiful views in the world. This is also where you can pick blueberries and swim in Walker's Pond. Then make your way to Brooksville. Bagaduce Lunch, which is located on the Bagaduce River where you can watch the reversing falls, horseshoe crabs in spring, possibly eagles and other birds, and eat their delicious fried clams or the biggest fried haddock sandwich around. Don't miss it. Also wanted to note, the house at 471 Reach Rd is not owner occupied but I am just a text or phone call away. Sometimes I am out of town but the apartment will be ready for you and the door will be unlocked.
Access to the garage below for placement of trash in the cans.
I am only a text message or phone call away with any questions. I do not live on the property.
The oceanfront property that you see from the deck is private property. Beach access for you is at the top of the other hill at Bridge's Point Boatyard. At low tide you can usually find sand dollars there.
The Brooklin General Store is more of a convenience store, for groceries the closest real grocery store is Tradewinds in Blue Hill.
This is a quiet neighborhood. Keeping noise to a minimum is a must. Safety concern for children is the deck and deck stairs.

I grew up in Brooklin, this used to be my grandparent's house. They added the garage and apartment around 1991 and my grandfather passed away before the first tenants would arrive. My grandmother carried on hosting for about 20 years and had so much fun with it. She took pride in it being clean because she was a cleaning "girl" for local people, including author EB White. I am keeping it up the same as she would now that she is gone and we own the property. And personally, I love it here and spend as much time here in the summer that I can. I don't live here, the house is rented to year round tenants.
