Stay in the forest with easy access to everything in Asheville. Watch bears from the huge covered deck! Stargaze from the hot tub! Our unique artist's residence is in a gorgeous secluded setting less than 5 miles from downtown, the Blue Ridge Parkway, the Grove Park Inn, dozens of restaurants and breweries. Boutique room with premium mattress/linens. Dedicated guest bath and lounge with coffee, tea, snacks and breakfast items. Perfect for solo travelers, business trips, and couples.
Our newly-renovated mountain home is nestled in a quiet cove surrounded by mature forest. You’ll enjoy a thousand square feet of deep porches and decks complete with lounges, locally-made rockers, a a 12-foot outdoor banquet table, and even a full-sized bed-swing for your afternoon naps.
When you stay in our home, you'll be surrounded by trees and wildlife, yet only 10 minutes or less to Asheville's famous local restaurants, breweries, hiking trails, and music venues. If you don't feel like exploring, relax in our cozy backyard hot tub, hang out on the porch or our forest hammock, or watch a movie with us in our home theater.
We are experienced business/leisure/adventure travelers and we have enjoyed homestays all over the world. It is our goal to take what we have learned from our most pleasurable homestays and offer the same experience to you. When you're here, you are a part of our family.
Your Bedroom & Bath
Our two guest rooms are located upstairs on either side of the shared guest bathroom. You'll snuggle in clean 100% cotton sheets on a premium mattress, and your room features a bedside table with alarm clock and USB-chargers for your devices, two comfy chairs and a small table. In your closet you'll find fresh bathrobes, extra blankets and pillows, a box fan, and an ironing board/iron.
Your fully-appointed bathroom has a tub and shower and is dedicated for guest use. It is located in the hallway just outside your room. Be aware that we have two guestrooms, and you will share the bathroom with the other guests if both rooms are occupied. Shampoo, conditioner, and soap are complimentary. We provide freshly-laundered bathrobes to all guests (to avoid awkward hallway meetings), and there's an additional half-bath downstairs you are always welcome to use if the guest bath is occupied. You'll find your bath linens (towels, washcloths, robe) in your bedroom.
Private Guest Lounge/Sitting Room
In the guest lounge and sitting rooms you'll plan your days with a comprehensive library of trail maps, local guidebooks and restaurant menus. We're always available to help you find the perfect trail, eatery, music venue or hidden mountain attraction that only the locals know about!
Our goal is to provide a welcoming, quiet and relaxing refuge for friends and our guests. We observe quiet-time from 10PM to 7:30AM and ask that you respect this rule by restricting your movement, using headphones to listen to electronic devices and keeping conversations to low tones.
Renting Both Guestrooms
If you're interested in renting both our guestrooms together (3-4 guests total), we also have a combined listing that may save you money. See www.airbnb.com/rooms/20206450 for details.
You'll have a private entrance to our residence, and you'll find your bedroom upstairs, next to a small guest lounge with coffee, tea, fridge, microwave, and other amenities (including a selection of local craft beers, organic snacks and light breakfast items).
We want you to have all the comforts of home at your disposal, including shared access to our washer/dryer, our basement movie theater, and our backyard hot tub. You're also free to share our porches and decks, hammock-in-the-woods, and gas grill. Please note that we reserve our downstairs living area and kitchen for our own personal use. You may use the microwave and small refrigerator in the guest lounge for drinks and snacks but we are not set up for you to prepare full meals and do not allow access to our kitchen. Our home is air-conditioned, though on cool nights we prefer to open the windows for fresh air and the serenade of katydids! High-speed WiFi is available everywhere on the property.
Your hosts are avid hikers and nature lovers. We've been married for three decades and have traveled the world together. We both work from our home studios, and are usually available to help you with recommendations for your Asheville itinerary or to provide other assistance.
You'll be staying in our home, but we've set aside most of our upstairs for private guest use, including the two guest rooms, the shared guest bath, a guest lounge and separate sitting area.
Our bedroom is upstairs also, and its not a large house, so you may occasionally meet us and other guests in the hallway. We have provided fresh bathrobes for you to use in the hall or on the way to the hot tub. We're all family here, and we love meeting and interacting with our guests (boardgames or hiking, anyone?), but we also understand the need for privacy, so we do our best to be unobtrusive.
We have a large, lazy, and very friendly dog (Amos) and an aloof, snooty cat (Zulu). Neither are allowed in the guestrooms.
Your safety is important. Our neighborhood is very safe and quiet. Your room has a door lock and a smoke-detector, and fire extinguishers are accessible on every floor of the house. There are two stairways and multiple exits. We have off-street parking and motion-sensitive outside lights.
We sponsor local non-profit organizations dedicated to preserving the natural heritage of our beloved mountains. To this end, a portion of your room fee will be donated to the Dogwood Alliance, a local organization dedicated to the protection of our forests.
