其他注意事項
About the directions to get to Maridaki, please see below:

BY CAR
You can reach Maridaki and the house by car. From Heraklion it is an 1 hour and 45 minutes drive. The last 45 minutes are in a dirt, rocky road. If you are not used to driving in the countryside or rocky roads, it is hard to drive there, especially with a small car. It is highly recommended to have an SUV or 4x4 car. You should not travel at night as it gets much harder. If you travel both at day and with an SUV or just a tall car, then you will be fine. Please, come prepared. Check both the route to Maridaki and the terrain beforehand.
Parking space is provided in Maridaki, that keeps your car safe from any animals (e.g. goats). It is located next to Maridaki's little square after crossing the bridge.

BY BOAT
Tsoutsouros is the village next to Maridaki. You can drive to Tsoutsouros with a car, as the road is normal, then take a local boat from a local fisherman from Tsoutsouros that will get you to Maridaki.

BY BUS (Seasonal Option for the summer months)
If you do not feel like driving you can access Maridaki from Heraklion by seasonal buses. One is "Heraklion-Arkalohori" ("Ηράκλειο-Αρκαλοχώρι") from the bus station, near the Port of Heraklion and the next one is "Arkalohori-Tsoutsouros" ("Αρκαλοχώρι-Τσούτσουρος").

To get from Tsoutsouros to Maridaki you have two options.
A) Using the path that connects Tsoutsouras to Maridaki. It is a medium difficulty 25-minutes walk through the Asterousian mountains, along the coastline with a breathtaking, wild, raw scenery (you will need shoes for your own convenience instead of e.g. flip flops). If you have young children with you and/or too many supplies, you should not pick this option.
B) Finding one of the many local fishers from Tsoutsouros' port (as mentioned above) that will take you to Maridaki with their boat for 10€ or so.

We do not carry any responsibility if there is a problem with the buses' schedule and/or change of routes.

There is "Self Check-in" for the house so when your arrival is close I will send you a link on how to get the key.

A Tour Guide For Maridaki & Other Places Nearby:
(A map with every place below is provided for free)

Maridaki apart from the crystal clear, clean waters has many other attractions, too. Agios Panteleimonas is a great chapel in the centre of Maridaki that has plenty of shade in the day to keep you-and your favorite people-cool. Also, using either the wooden bridge of the chapel or walking straight out of the back entrance, you will find yourself in a very traditional café/tavern called "Pigi" (spring) that has great traditional food and authentic ice cream from goat milk. You definitely need to try out their "galaktoboureko" which is the best dessert you can try. The spring water is drinkable and, personally speaking, the best. After a kilometre or two, continuing on the rough road of Pigi you will find yourself at the grand Lihnisti waterfall. Lastly, apart from the tavern at Pigi, there is one café on the beach that is open during the summer season, ready to serve you coffee and food (there is a POS system in the café on the beach but definitely have some cash with you). There are no grocery stores in Maridaki, so come prepared. If you are there for a long stay, you should bring supplies apart from the things we provide in our house.

Other than the great scenery and sea of Maridaki, you can always shortly hike to other places outside of Maridaki.

A) Leaving Maridaki, you will find yourselves in Alatsomouri, a small residential area. Alatsomouri was named after 2 greek words alatsi & mouri (αλάτσι & μούρη) which mean salt & face. This means that in the winter, this place's "face" is not protected by the harsh waves of the sea, so it has been altered through the years.

B) Walking a little bit further you can find a little chapel called "Timios Stavros" which it has shadow and it is a haven compared to the desert-like landscape around you.

C) Continuing west there is a great monastery called Agios Nikitas that has a secret, gorgeous, peaceful, small beach that is accessible by stairs. It is said that Agios Nikitas was the Saint that protected a group of people that were hiding from the Turks during the Turkish occupation in the 1800s. The monastery has an enormous garden with lots of fruits and provides many places with shade and water.

D) A bit further from Agios Nikitas Monastery, there is a big palm forest that, legend has it, was created from African pirates that arrived in southern Crete with nothing to eat. They started eating fruits that found in the cretan land and tossed the seeds away, behind them as they were climbing up the mountain. In that way, the palm forest was created.

E) Lastly, you can always visit Tsoutsouros for an afternoon, spending some time with the more touristic side of Southern Crete.
