As an AirBnb host we take on a signifiant amount of risks when we "host" strangers in our homes. We are offered some "peace of mind" knowing that we are backed by an incredible company; however EVERY host shares the same "worst nightmare": home defiling from a guest. THIS was my reality with Rebecca Dickerson and her group.
Although I have not been a host for very long, I pride myself immensely on my ability to make EVERYONE feel at home in my home. I even enlist the help and support of an ALL woman team to HELP me make EVERY stay incredible and memorable! Treating others the way I want to be treated is IMPORTANT to me, to us; especially since it's a choice they make to stay with us in the FIRST place. There are numerous homes available and I APPRECIATE being CHOSEN every time!
Rebecca Dickerson and her guests not only disrespected my home, my host and me but there were numerous items destroyed during their stay. To list the most henious: a piece of leather on my sectional was ripped off, my bedroom door had a huge crack in it and the remote control for the television was broken as well as the remote for my massage chair in the living room.
We discovered these things after coming home after waiting almost 5 hours to track down my keys, and parking pass from her. All messages sent to Rebecca were marked as "read" however, she chose to ignore and not respond. This infuriated everyone involved and if it weren't for the assistance and persistence of AirBnb I'm sure I would've waited MUCH LONGER.
Although this was by FAR the worst group my co host with over 1,000 check ins, or I have ever dealt with, our company, AirBnB, proved to be the one of integrity and loyalty we BELIEVED and KNEW it to be.
We, would WARN ALL HOSTS NOT to host this individual or her affiliates in their homes! After they left our home, we had to block our listing for a week to try and figure out how to accommodate FUTURE guests given our "new circumstances".
We have decided to use this ordeal as a "learning experience" to help us grow as hosts and it would be irresponsible of us to not do our due diligence and forewarn fellow hosts... and EVERYONE!
We understand that this guest is vindictive as she has been slandering and falsely accusing us of absurdities (like stating we falsified our listing BECAUSE we changed the painting in our living room) from the beginning; in order to avoid being financially responsible for her stay. Rebecca's intention were to stay at my home for free. WE refuse to remain silent and allow a person (ESPECIALLY one with ZERO reviews) to disrupt what we have worked so hard to create and maintain with the aid of Airbnb. This COMPANY was created so we CAN home share and generate an income; having a guest like Rebecca can honestly discourage the entire process. They try to defeat and destroy, but TRUTH will ALWAYS prevail. WE can NOT prevent her from writing a FRAUDULENT review, but WE CAN and WE WILL FIGHT FOR THE TRUTH, It is after all our HOME!
