The Coral House Hotel is one of, if not the, oldest building on Hollywood Beach. It was built using oolite limestone (coral rock) in 1924. Originally constructed as a single family beach home, a second story was added in the mid-1920’s and it became the Gulfstream Hospital, a small local children’s hospital, operated by Dr. Harrison Walker.

Just to give you a quick overview about the Coral House… we are located just ½ block off the beach (so it’s quiet)…we are located in the center of the boardwalk/beach area & only 3 blocks from the beach’s band shell theater on Johnson St. where the city has music playing almost every night - FREE…we are only 83 steps to the 3.5 mile long, remodeled & historical brick paved broadwalk. Plenty of restaurants, shops, ice cream parlors, bars & markets. For $1 you can jump on a trolley that takes you to Downtown Hollywood, The Arts Park, Anne Knolb Nature Center & West Lake Park. We’re just a short taxi ride to Ft. Lauderdale, South Beach or Miami - not to mention Ft.Lauderdale Airport, Port Everglades, malls, movie theaters, golf courses, and many other hot spots! If you do not have a car, No Worries - You can walk or bicycle everywhere. There are so many other activities: sunbath, jog, snorkel, volleyball, fish, work out, read a book, people watch, shelling - the list goes on.
Getting around
Bring your car or don't. Many guests stay with us without a car and do fine ;o) Only 3 blocks or a 3 minute walk from Coral House is the Hollywood Trolley for only $1 they will take you to Downtown Hollywood, parks & shopping plazas. . Across the street from Coral House is The Water Taxi that will take you on an excellent adventure ride to Fort Lauderdale and back for $20+ You will get to see mansions & yachts. This is a Great day adventure where you can jump on just across the street from us. Fort Lauderdale airport is about a $25 taxi ride to The Coral House. There is a bus stop on the end of our street that can take you to South Beach, Miami, Fort Lauderdale, Downtown Hollywood and more. We are very centrally located!
