This beautiful, quintessentially English, thatched terraced cottage used to operate as the village post office in the pretty village of Swalcliffe. Situated in a delightful position overlooking the village green and church at the top of a row of Cotswold stone cottages and the village pub, which hosts a fantastic Greek night (booking recommended).
Parts of the original cottage date back to the 17th century, and it has many original features including the inglenook fireplace in the living room. To the rear of the property, this is where old meets new, and has been beautifully designed to give an open plan kitchen/dining room with bi-folding doors. Both sides lead to an enclosed courtyard in the centre of the property, and a lovely decking area overlooks the beautifully kept sloping garden. At the bottom of the garden, a meandering stream runs along the perimeter which can be crossed to discover many footpaths over the fields and unspoilt countryside. The garden also boasts a delightful summerhouse with a sofa and a small kitchenette, and at the bottom there is another decking area which catches the sun on a summers evening. The cottage has two separate staircases, one in the old part of the cottage is steep and leads from the living room to a master bedroom and en-suite, and the other from the kitchen/dining room to two more lovely bedrooms and a family bathroom.
