Relax and recharge at Bluebird Hideaway! This ultra-private studio among the trees is an idyllic, sun-dappled retreat that has been outfitted with all the comforts of home. A private, DETACHED guesthouse awaits, while a fenced yard welcomes four-legged travelers. A full kitchen stocked with essentials plus some local treats, luxury linens, WiFi, and a private deck above a creek are just a few of the sweet surprises you'll find. Only 10 minutes to Duke University and downtown Durham.

The studio is located on the second story; you will need to climb about 15 stairs to access it. The space has been meticulously curated with you, our guest, in mind. Having been longtime Airbnb users (and frequently weary travelers) ourselves, we have tried to think of everything we've ever needed, so you will find thoughtful touches such as frozen meals waiting in case you arrive late, umbrellas, fuzzy socks to pad around in, and even some extra dog supplies for our canine guests.
We welcome travelers needing longer-term accommodations, and offer discounted rates for these bookings. The complete kitchen with full-size fridge, dishwasher, and 4-burner range/oven makes this an ideal spot for extended stays as you can cook all of your favorite meals and limit your restaurant spending.
It should also be said: ALL guests are welcome here, no matter who you are. We are happy you're here.

Bluebird Hideaway is a separate guesthouse located on our property. You are free to come and go as you like, and won't have to pass through any of our personal space in the process. The first floor of Bluebird Hideaway is used for storage; we will not be operating the doors or idling any vehicles -- we value your peace and quiet!
A washer and dryer are provided exclusively for the studio; guests staying with us for three nights or more may use them free of charge (just ask us for access). Those staying fewer than three nights may still use them for a $5 fee.

We have two very friendly dogs, Cosmo (35 pounds) and Barkley (50 pounds). You may see them in the yard and they will say hello. They love other dogs, but please let us know in advance if your own pet is skittish. If your dog has any history of aggression, PLEASE respect our space and our fur babies and look for other accommodations. Barkley and Cosmo are not allowed inside Bluebird Hideaway.
Cats and other pets are permitted only with specific advance permission from the owners. Please message us if you are traveling with a cat or any kind of non-traditional pet.
There is NO smoking inside of Bluebird Hideaway. You may smoke on the deck outside.
We have specifically chosen not to put a TV in the space; in its stead, we hope to inspire moments of solitude, personal connection, and slowed time. That said, you can access WiFi to watch the streaming service of your choice on your laptop or tablet.
The day bed is normally set up for reading/lounging, with a fitted sheet and throw pillows. If any guests plan to sleep on the day bed, please let us know in advance so that we can put a sheet set on it.
The maximum number of guests allowed in any party is three. We apologize, but we cannot make exceptions to this rule.

Ours is a quiet, residential neighborhood and we are located at the end of a cul-de-sac so you will see no traffic other than our immediate neighbors. Bluebird Hideaway is located on 3/4 of an acre with woods and a creek, plus a smaller fenced area where our dogs (and hopefully yours!) can run. We have created a book of our favorite local businesses and attractions (along with driving distances) so that you can find some new favorites of your own!
