This modern, four-season cottage looks out over the Benjamin River, towards the Eggemoggin Reach. There is water access at high tide. Large glass windows flood the space with sun and provide gorgeous views. The single-story cottage sleeps four in the two bedrooms and could accommodate 2 more on couches in the living room. The beautiful, coastal setting provides the perfect location for a quiet getaway.
The house is situated only feet away from the tidal Benjamin River. Water views are possible from three sides of the house. The open-floor plan includes a fully equipped kitchen, dining area, and living room. The entire house is tiled, with radiant heat to ensure comfortable temperatures, no matter the season. The two bedrooms (one with a double bed, one with twin-size bunkbeds) each have access to a full bath. The master suite opens to the outdoor deck. Total privacy and seclusion is guaranteed. Enjoy the silence and the dark night skies.
Guests have access to the entire cottage. Laundry facilities are included. Your host's home is up a long, private drive. Because of insurance restrictions, the kayaks/canoes near the shore by the cottage cannot be used by renters. We can recommend nearby rental companies.
We will be available at all time if needed.
The cottage is located on the shore of the Benjamin River, which is a tidal river. At low tide (every 12 hours), the river completely empties of water for several hours. The times of high and low tide change by an hour every day so you should check the current tide chart to see when the tide will be favorable. (Search "Blue Hill Harbor tides" to see a chart for our area.)
Summer on the coast of Maine is bustling with activity. Many restaurants are only open seasonally, especially in Blue Hill and Stonington, and farmer's markets are common in almost every little town. Bar Harbor is in full swing, with attendant crowds and is a little over an hour away. Brooklin is the next town over so, if you're coming for a class at the Wooden Boat School, this would be a great spot to stay!
Fall, winter, and spring are much less busy and can be the most beautiful times of the year in Maine. Enjoy the incredible foliage, the crisp white snow, or the burgeoning of spring blossoms.
No matter the season, the secluded location of our cottage provides the opportunity for total relaxation. Unwind and unplug and return to your real life rejuvenated!
No pets or smoking, please. Please make yourselves at home and tidy up when you leave. We will take care of the trash and recycling.
Unfortunately, canoes and kayaks near the cottage are for private use only. Our insurance company won't allow their use for cottage renters. There is a great local rental company that will deliver kayaks, canoes, bikes and paddle-boards wherever you wish (info in the cottage). Thanks for understanding.
