PRIVATE BEDROOM WITH A COMMUNITY VIBE
The house has multiple bedrooms upstairs that might be booked with other guests at any given time. Your bedroom is totally private and secure (with a digital door lock) with the bathroom, kitchen, and other parts of the home being shared. We love meeting people from all over and lots of friendships have started between guests who have met while staying in our home. With that being said, if you require more privacy, this is probably not the best place for you but most guests see it as a great way to meet people and embrace the community vibe as part of the adventure.
OUR HOUSE & OUR SAFE NEIGHBORHOOD
Built in 1923, this nice, rustic home is located on Detroit's "Lower East Side" near Grosse Pointe and less than 1 block from the water. Large private backyard, river access & great parks 1 minute walk away. Our block is part of the famous "Copper Canyon" and is known as one of Detroit's safest areas where many families and police officers live.
We are conveniently located 5.5 miles to downtown (12-15 minutes by car or 30 minutes by bike). Off-street parking is available.
Want to borrow a bike during your stay? Just let us know and you can borrow ours :-) Also if you happen to be here on a Monday, check out Slow Roll! It is an AWESOME community bike ride that takes place every Monday evening from late April to early September.
YOUR PRIVATE BEDROOM
You will have a fully-furnished private bedroom with a king-size memory foam bed & fresh linens, personal fridge, microwave & coffee maker + freshly ground coffee.
Shared upstairs bathroom features a tub/shower and shared restroom downstairs is also available. Please note that we do have plans to add a second bathroom upstairs in the near future but for now you will be sharing the single upstairs bathroom with the other guests.
Shared fully-equipped kitchen is available at all times.
WASHER & DRYER
Washer / dryer are located in the basement for guests to use.
CHECK YOURSELF IN & MAKE YOURSELF AT HOME
"Our house is your house" so be our guest to come and go as you wish like you are at home. We want our guests to have as much privacy and freedom as they wish so that's why we use self-check in. If you would like to meet us, send us a message! We are currently fixing up a house nearby so we spend most of our time there. If you would like to drop by for a morning coffee together, please let us know ahead of time and we'll gladly arrange that. We love to meet new people and learn about cultures and cuisines from around the world. :)

- Please try your best to be quiet after 10PM
- Bathroom is shared so keep the shower short if you could
Hello! We’re a fun-loving couple with a passion for food & wine, travel, exploration, music and a whole lot more. Our relationship has spanned the globe and in 2013 we moved from Asia to Detroit after falling in love with the city and its amazing people, beautiful architecture and vibrant history. We’re currently renovating a 1920s mansion turned nursing home in one of Detroit's best up-and-coming neighborhoods and AirBNB has been a great platform to help us fund our continuing renovation work.
Being travelers ourselves we love to visit new places, meet friendly and fascinating people, and experience cultures and cuisines from around the world :)
WHAT BROUGHT US HERE
After driving through Detroit in 2013 we fell in love with the city and its people so we decided to move here. Since 2013 we have been busy saving old houses, removing them from the "demo list" and helping to bring them back to life. We scouted literally every neighborhood in Detroit when we first arrived and we chose this particular neighborhood because of its rich history, great neighbors, and its outstanding natural resources. Convenient river access and proximity to nearby parks makes the location hard to beat and it's really one of the most under-appreciated neighborhoods in the city.
HELP US CONTINUE RESTORATION WORK
All proceeds from AirBNB help us fund our continuing restoration work so each guest brings us one step closer to saving this awesome historic home!
