This lovely 1-bedroom suite in Cole Valley has a bathroom, small kitchenette and private deck overlooking the city and takes up the entire top floor of our classic Victorian house. It is decorated with soothing earth-tone fabrics and charming seascape paintings, and will be a relaxing retreat whether you're in town for work or vacation. I will mention that to get to this lovely apartment does involve lots of stairs to climb, some of them up a spiral staircase, since it's on the 4th floor and set above the street. But the view and light are well worth the climb. (See notes on PARKING in last paragraph below)
It has one extremely comfortable queen-sized bed and chaise with terrific views of the city, as well as a twin bed tucked away in a nook in the bedroom. It has a living room with a twin-size daybed that has a pop-up twin trundle bed underneath, to comfortably sleep two people. It also has a small kitchenette, a desk, free wifi and TV (with cable, including HBO and Showtime). The large deck also has magnificent views of the city.
It is situated in lovely Cole Valley, in walking distance of UCSF and its shuttles to Mission Bay and elsewhere. It is a short walk to Golden Gate Park (great for running, walking, or just exploring beautiful gardens and nature), the Haight-Ashbury, and steps from public transportation (1 block to the bus stop, 2 blocks to the N-Judah train stop; we do not have a garage) and very close to the charming restaurants, shops and services of Cole Valley and the Haight (including a short jaunt to Whole Foods and other natural food stores).
This apartment is perfect if you're in town for work (especially at UCSF), or just in town to relax and visit!
In terms of getting to the apartment from the airport, you can take an Uber or cab here, a bus, the Super Shuttle (a very inexpensive, great way to get here-- just (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) "Super Shuttle" to check fares and schedule a pick-up/ drop-off), or the MUNI train (it's right on the N line-- towards Ocean Beach if you're coming from downtown/ Civic Center; the N-Judah if you're coming from the other direction). Getting here with public transportation is very inexpensive and very easy. You just take BART to the Civic Center stop from the airport, and transfer to the MUNI "N" line, going toward Ocean Beach. Our stop is Stanyan Street (at the intersection of Stanyan and Carl streets).
We are extremely close to multiple MUNI stops (San Francisco's public transportation system), so public transportation is easy, cheap and plentiful. However, if you're driving, please note that while we don't have a parking spot, it's a fairly easy neighborhood to find free parking in. However, while parking is free, it is not unlimited. They ticket every two hours from 8 am to 5 pm Monday through Friday, so you need to either move your car by 10 am (not too hard, there are usually spots to be found, and most people start their day by then anyway), or park in a nearby parking lot (Kezar Parking Lot is within a 10 minute walk down the street on Stanyan near Frederick Street, and you can pay to park all day for ~$20-~25 for 24 hours, should you want to leave your car there for the day). There are also some streets nearby (Rivoli street, for example) where you can park round the clock for ~48 hours for free and they don't ticket, but you have to search a bit for those spots as everyone wants them!
I will mention that to get to this lovely apartment does involve lots of stairs to climb, since it's on the 4th floor and set above the street. But the view and light are well worth the climb. Also, while we don't have parking, Stanyan street offers free parking, though it's limited to two hours between 8am-5pm Monday through Friday. That just means that by 10am you have to move your car to a new spot somewhere else on the block. However, we are near lots of great public transportation and right on the N line that stops a couple blocks down the street on Stanyan and Carl streets. Getting around without a car is super easy, and often the best way to navigate the city, with or without the help of Uber or Lyft.
We love to host people from all over the United States and the world, and enjoy sharing our expertise on enjoying all the best that San Francisco and especially our Cole Valley neighborhood has to offer. We expect kindness and respect, no loud parties at all hours of the night, absolutely no smoking inside or out, and just general decency. We're pretty chill hosts, and enjoy swell people. Just be nice, and leave the place as nice and tidy as you found it. :-)
This is the top floor of a home with a family living below; there are also tenants who live on the ground floor, so please be quiet in the evening/ early morning when leaving and returning home, as sound travels easily, and we don't want to deprive anyone of their sleep and sense of privacy.
When your stay is over, please strip the bed and place all the sheets, towels, dishtowels and anything else that needs cleaning in the laundry basket on the floor in the bedroom. Of course, if you have an early flight to catch, please don't worry about it, I'll take care of it. :-)
