Hilltop Redwood Retreat, Peaceful

Your room has a comfy queen bed, private deck with canyon and forest views. The second room, separated by a hallway and bathroom, has two twin beds - you may select whichever room you prefer. The bathroom has a single sink, water closet and shower. There's a separate, private entrance so you can come and go as you please without worrying about disturbing us. The 900 + sq. ft. guest suite is located downstairs from the main house, you'll have a quiet and private area all to yourselves with a media room, library and outdoor fireplace, or come on up to join us and share our hospitality.

The house is built to maximize the views and blend in with the woodland surroundings. The 5-acre property has majestic redwood cathedrals and a peek of the ocean, sunsets are spectacular! Your closest neighbors will be quail, wild turkeys, cottontail rabbits, raccoons, owls, deer, coyote and our buddy 'Bob' , the faithful bobcat who performs gopher patrol. If you are looking for scenic beauty and a pleasant ambiance, the stillness of the Bonny Doon night will calm your soul.

We enjoy hosting visitors from all over the world. It gives us great joy to share the glorious Central Coast, there are so many fun, interesting things to do...beach combing, biking, hiking, windsurfing, antiquing, golfing, wine tasting; plus so many places to visit, the amazing UCSC campus is 15 minutes away, Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk, the charming seaside town of Capitola, numerous State Parks (inc. Big Basin and Henry Cowell), Roaring Camp railroad in Felton, the quaint north coast beach villages of Davenport, Pescadero and San Gregorio. San Francisco to the north, Monterey, Carmel and Big Sur to the south are excellent day trips. And if you want to play golf, Dick knows all the courses. Our friends joke that in our next lives we will come back as tour guides.

My husband and I can put together a family style dinner, pour a glass of local wine, prepare a modest breakfast, pack a lunch to go, whatever works for you. You can BBQ if you want. We travel a lot and we know how important it is to feel comfortable and to be happy in new surroundings. We look forward to meeting you.

This place is perfect for a romantic getaway! It has a fantastic view and beautiful private decks where you can have dinner or just gaze at the stars. Pat is also very nice and easy to communicate with. But for families i wouldn't recommend this place. We stayed there with our toddler and that was quite a challenge with a lot of personal stuff in the place. And it looked like there was only cleaned where you walk and sit. Next to those area's it was still a bit dirty/dusty.
Anic is correct, the space is not child proof/friendly. We made an exception, but won't do it in the future. The library/media room would be called an enclosed lanai if it were in a warmer climate, we opened the 14-ft wall separating the room from the patio earlier in the week, I will be more diligent with my dusting. Thank you for bringing this to my attention.

Our stay was amazing! Pat greeted us right when we arrived and gave us a tour. She was so sweet to have pre-packed the fridge we had with our breakfast and had a delicious tart cake prepared for my boyfriend's birthday. We definitely recommend staying here and experiencing the beauty that comes with the location.

Pat's place is a great scenic, beautiful quiet get away. It's even better in reality than on the pictures. We'll certainly come back soon!

lovely, peaceful place in the redwoods. Pat was warm and welcoming. Definitely a place to rent if you want to get away from it all. Would stay again in a heart beat.

Pat was a great host. I sent request pretty late in the day and she still took me in. My first Airbnb experience was awesome. Would definitely recommend

Pat was such a wonderful host and the place was beautiful! Nestled among the gorgeous redwood mountains, the guest space is so relaxing you may never want to leave. The place is spacious with two decks, large hang out area, bedroom(s), etc. The shower was like stepping in to a spa! On top of that, it's a quick drive to the beach, Davenport, and Santa Cruz.

I felt right at home almost from the moment I got to Pat's house. Not only did I get a clean, quiet and comfortable room to sleep in, but accommodations also included use of the whole downstairs living area! Because I was attending a workshop in Santa Cruz I wasn't able to enjoy all of the amenities of the property, of which there are many, but I will definitely be coming back for another stay next time I'm in town.
