There's no traffic in the street in front. You can find a couple of fountains and a small garden adjacent to the building. You can expect the sound of birds, water and Fado sung in street.
Being a small and historical neighborhood, most of the people lived here for many years, and got to know each other very well.
You'll see people talking to each other in the many benches available, in front of the bakeries, churches, restaurants and even inside some houses that still keep their doors opened.
Alfama is the oldest district of Lisbon, cradle of Fado, spans from downtown to São Jorge's castle where you can relax with the food, wine and liquor overlooking the city.
Lately the neighborhood has been invigorated with the renovation of the old houses and new restaurants where Fado echoes.
The most notable attractions in a 10 minutes walking radius are Lisbon's Cathedral, the National Pantheon (Church of St. Engrácia), Fado Museum, Clube de Fado, Miradouro de Santa Luzia, Saramago Foundation (Casa dos Bicos), Praça do Comércio and S.Jorge's Castle.

In both ways you can find subway and ferry stations, bus stops (just on front street) that go to the principles historical sites.
Arriving to the apartment is very easy. One hop from the airport using the red line from the subway switching to the blue line in S.Sebastião from there just go all the way to Stª. Apolónia and from there, a 10 minute walk straight ahead.
Alfama is a medieval quarter that throughout its history has received influence from the various cultures that used to live there such as Arab and Jewish.
The beauty of Alfama come from the narrow streets, the small squares with fountains, the archs, the small painted houses. All the neighborhood it's alive with the people talking on the street or with the sound of music. Everyone knows everyone.
