We loved our stay at Rockwood near Sligo. It is off the beaten path and lovely and quiet. It was exactly what we were wanting in a cottage retreat. Mary was simply marvelous. We arrived in Sligo by bus and intended on making our way there on foot. Mary wouldn't hear of it and came and picked us and our backpacks up. And she prepared her delicious scones for our arrival. It was wonderful. We recommend Rockwood for a peaceful, relaxing rest.
We had a fantastic four nights in Greg's quirky and historic cottage. Its remoteness is arguably its chief attraction - you really do feel as if you are squirrelled away in a hidden corner of Ireland. The peace and tranquility is really something else (as our the pitch black night skies). At the same time, it's a perfect place for exploring southern Donegal and for doing some great walks/treks. We hope to return in the future.
