We had an amazing time at our apartment in Villa Campomaggio. The setting and grounds could not be more beautiful. We were there in July with grape leaves and red flowers in bloom throughout the property. The view from the pool area was especially dreamy. The staff was very courteous and professional. They had perfect made to order espresso any time if the day. Most spoke a little English. Chiara at the front desk was fairly fluent. As for the apartment itself, it was very large and comfortable. Beds were great. The AC in our unit didnt work that well, although we never asked for help in fixing it. Additionally, the hot water in the shower would only remain hot for about 3 minutes at a time. Again, we didn't think it was a big enough issue to have looked at--we just took shorter showers. The "kitchen" was a sink, 2 burner electric stove, fan and mini fridge within a cupboard/wardrobe. No microwave or toaster. There was one pot, one pan and just enough plates and silverware for four guests. We got creative with our cooking. There is a restaurant on the premises that offers buffet breakfasts for €14 ( €7 for kids). I believe the breakfasts are included with room fees for guests staying at the hotel, but apt guests need to pay. I didn't think it was worth it. We liked making our own breakfasts, but treating ourselves to Campomaggio's expert coffee. We had one meal on site--lunch. Lasagna was the standout dish but overall the food was just okay and priced higher than the excellent restaurants in nearby Radda In Chianti. A word about the pool--it wasn't heated when we were there, but with temps in the high 80s it wasn't a problem. I'm hoping they heat it in the off season. Also, there is no shallow end, so children that can't swim have to hand out on the steps leading in or wear a flotation device. I found the pool to be very dreamy. This may seem obvious, but you absolutely need a car to vacation in this area. You have to pay to park within many of the areas in the town, but not at the hotel. And when you do have to pay it is very reasonable. In Coop is a good grocery store in town. La Bottega was a wonderful dinner spot in the nearby mini-town of Volpaia. We had massages at the hotel. They were relaxing more than therapeutic. I will share my list of recommendations personally with Alessio as I think a few small changes could make the stay in his apartments perfect. Can't wait to go back!!!
This is a wonderful place: stylish well-equipped house with very nice surrounding outside, swimming pool and the gorgeous view on Tuscany hills, located outside the town. It is a very good place to relax and despite few other houses it is calm and everyone can have privacy. It is also a good location to visit Sienna or Florence and many other smaller charming cities in Tuscany. I recommend this place a lot!
