If you have time and feel like getting your nature fix than this is it! Only a 15 minute drive away you will find the breathtaking Puketi Forest which is filled with ancient Kauri and native NZ plants and wildlife. The air is so fresh and pure you will want to bottle it.

This is a gorgeous place filled with native plants and trees as well as rivers and waterfalls. One of the waterfalls you can swim in behind it, a great experience if you are up to it. Others have a rope you can jump off. Park your car and walk 5 minutes to the first waterfall for a swim or carry on and walk to the Heritage site of the The Landing and the Stone Store.

This is a gorgeous place filled with native plants and trees as well as rivers and waterfalls. One of the waterfalls you can swim in behind it, a great experience if you are up to it. Others have a rope you can jump off. Park your car and walk 5 minutes to the first waterfall for a swim or carry on and walk to the Heritage site of the The Landing and the Stone Store.

Not only do you have regular encounters with friendly dolphins swimming by your side through the waves, but this is also the gateway to the famous Dive Spot of the Rainbow Warrior. Also nearby are the Cavalli Islands which have some fantastic walks and look outs.
Te Ngaere
Another stunning beach just around the corner from Matauri Bay.
This again is on the same loop as Matauri Bay & Te Ngaere with Fiji crystal water as well as a great walking track to the top of a summit and look out. Also kids bring the snorkelling gear.

Breathtaking! This Harbour is one of Northlands best kept secrets. The gateway to many great fishing spots, but don't worry if you don't have a boat as there is a great wharf with plenty of fish swimming around. Thirsty? Head to the local Fishing Club and mix with the locals.

This is the ultimate look out! Once you head to all the beaches I have listed you will end up at Whangaroa Harbour. Look up! That is Saint Paul's Rock. It isn't as steep as it looks and it is well worth it. Breath taking views from the top!

43 Old Hospital RdThis is the ultimate look out! Once you head to all the beaches I have listed you will end up at Whangaroa Harbour. Look up! That is Saint Paul's Rock. It isn't as steep as it looks and it is well worth it. Breath taking views from the top!
This is a definite must do! Stunning views of the Bay of Islands. Some really nice bars and restaurants on the water to try.
