Parks in Preston/Penwortham
Here is a list of parks which are within walking distance from our house.
This is a beautiful park a short walk from our house (or you can catch the number 3 bus ). The park has rolling hills, mature trees and is a great place for a quiet walk at any time of the day.

Just north of the River Ribble, Avenham and Miller Parks are about 30 minutes walk from our home. Avenham Park is a natural amphitheater with a Japanese garden, and a pavilion serving tea and light lunches.
Miller Park is a more formal park, overlooked by a beautiful building, due to be reopened as a hotel soon.
Both parks are free to visit.

Also known as Pear Tree Park, Middleforth Green is just around the corner from our house. The quickest way to it is right out our drive and right on the main road, and right again. You'll come to the park in about 5 minutes on your right.

The nearest parking is on Winckley Square or Cross Street, double check the parking restrictions though.

This is alternative cinema, it tends to show older films, however it's independently run. The tickets are cheap, you get a proper mug of tea which is reasonably priced and everyone stands to the National Anthem before the film starts.

If you want to order some food to be delivered, you will probably find that they can't find the house!

Either, tell them to call once they arrive (you will probably have to walk across the road to the hall), or explain that once they turn off New Lane they should look out for the sign with the house name, on the left, and turn into the gravelled drive.
If they have reached the Hall they have gone to far and should turnaround, we are then on their right.

McColl’s is our nearest corner shop, selling essentials such as bread, eggs, milk etc. There is also a cash machine next to the shop.

Things to see in and around Preston/Penwortham
In addition to the parks which have a separate entry, here are some other places you should check out in and around Preston and Penwortham.
This nature reserve also has a restaurant in a floating building, so why not check it out, it's one junction up the M6 from us. Make sure you pay for your parking though as it's easy to get caught out.

It's a great place to learn about Preston and Lancashire as well as the visiting exhibitions that change all of the time. It's free to visit the museum and the nearest parking is Preston Bus Station.
