These are fabulous local places to visit : some are well-known and some are secret and known to locals
This spectacular waterfall gives a fabulous view of the amazing gorge that stretches nearly to Goulburn. It is accessible easily from the carpark and if you feel adventurous, there are a couple of easy walks to look back at the falls. There is a great cafe and gift shop as well. It is a 15-20 minute drive from Maple Cottage.

A truly historic local village that was the first place in the world to ban bottled water. Its main street hosts great cafes and it is the entry point to Morton National Park with plenty of bush walks of all grades, and a lovely scenic drive to overlook Bungonia Gorge. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Morton_National_Park

The historic gaol is back in service and there is the old courthouse that is open to visitors. While you are there, stop and visit the Wingecarribee River - there is a wonderful reserve at the back of Berrima with a lovely swimming hole.
You possibly drove through Sutton Forest on your way to Maple Cottage. If you stop, there is a wonderful "The Everything Store", and a great family-run fruit and veg shop across the road. They also do coffee. And on Sunday mornings there is a world-famous puppeteer doing shows at the Hall.

You possibly drove through Sutton Forest on your way to Maple Cottage. If you stop, there is a wonderful "The Everything Store", and a great family-run fruit and veg shop across the road. They also do coffee. And on Sunday mornings there is a world-famous puppeteer doing shows at the Hall.

This is a truly beautiful spot about 30mins drive from Maple Cottage (out via Robertson). There are swimming holes nearby and easy access to another set of waterfalls. Great as part of a scenic drive.

The stock here changes regularly and the range is wonderful. The staff are helpful. There are some real finds to be had here.

This shop is amazing. The owner has sourced all sorts of old-fashioned and amazing toys to delight all ages. It sits quietly opposite the Jemmy Moss Pub and a few steps up the road from The Taphouse Brewery. Definitely worth having a look!

I have been dropping items off here for years and only actually went in and checked out what they have a few weeks ago. Oh, my goodness! So much stuff! Two levels chock-a-block full of hidden treasures. And all proceeds go back to the local community. Yes, it is located at the tip (errr... the resource recovery centre) and you have to go over the weigh bridge, but it is worth a look if you are a treasure hunter.
