Fantastic, fresh food! They are open for breakfast and lunch. Lots of vegetarian options. This is just 3 blocks down from the house. Get there early on weekends, there will be a crowd! You can enjoy a cocktail while you wait for your table.

Just 4 blocks down from the house, spork is one of Bend's loves. They started as a food cart and now have a restaurant. Most dishes involve meat. Lots of options here!

The market is three blocks down from the house. They have tons of cute little gift items as well as an ENORMOUS beverage inventory! It's not the cheapest store in town but they have great produce and all of the necessities.

If you like a lively place where you can nibble on tapas, Barrio is my top pick! It's busy but worth the wait. The food is delicious! Try the cocktail with prickly pear. Soooo good.

That is a strange photo, but Kebaba is truly awesome. You can get hummus, salmon skewers, falafel, or a rice bowl. This is a mellow spot with very affordable, delicious food. Try the baklava!

The Lot is about 8 blocks from the house, or a 10-15 minute walk. Several food trucks surround a central eating area, open yet covered, where you can also buy a beer. They have trivia nights here on occasion. Parking can be tricky so I recommend walking. In winter they have fire pits; it's very cozy!

I love Shevlin Park! It is the best "quick hike" from the house. Tumalo Creek runs through it, and there are huge Ponderosa Pines and wooden bridges. It's a good place to escape the heat in the summer, and a gorgeous spot to hike in winter. It's about a 10 minute drive from the house.

Mt. Bachelor is a great place for all four seasons! When it's not open as a ski resort, it's a beautiful hike to the summit. Not to be missed!

If you've never been to Bend before, the Old Mill is a must-see. Now a shopping mall aside the Deschutes River, it used to be a lumber mill as recently as the 1980s. There is a (mostly) paved path on both sides of the river, with bridges for pedestrians and bikes. It's also the spot to go paddleboarding and floating - they rent boards & tubes riverside. There is a shuttle that will pick you up for a few bucks if you want to float down the river.
