9 MINUTES Rated "VERY GOOD" by the New York Times fine dining section critic Rand Richards Cooper. Travel Advisor: Sat nite - reservations suggested Pleased from start to finish! The service is lovely at The Barn. The entire staff is well-trained to serve you graciously. My husband ordered the hangar steak cooked to perfection. I had the lamb and it was a huge portion with lovely glazed carrots. I substituted the couscous for sautéed brussel sprouts, great decision for they were delicious. They also bring a lovely napkin pocket of bread with a dip - nice presentation for everything. We have enjoyed every meal here — high quality and lovely ambiance.

9 MINUTES Trip Advisor: After a full day of garden work, we took our grandson to Wayback which is our favorite burger & shake place. Grandson & I had burgers - his was basic but, I decided to go with the sauteed onions and mushrooms - yum. Grandpa had his hot dog with everything on it. Milk Shakes are like Grandpa & I remember "back in the day" - thick & full of flavor. Grandson was interested in the "old" pictures on the wall, & it turned into a trip down memory lane for us, and a history lesson for him. As always, the staff are friendly & efficient, & the business is clean and comfortable.

8 MINUTES Grass Roots is an artisan ice cream shop. They experiment constantly with countless flavors always tweaking and improving while using natural extracts, and real food to flavor our ice cream. Closed Sundays. Yelp: The most amazing ice cream place ever. Crazy flavors that actually make sense and some basic flavors as well. This is truly a special ice cream place. My wife and I drive 40mins just for this place and made sure it was our sons 1st experience with ice cream (it was also the first time we got him to use a spoon on his own). Everyone working here is always super friendly and the owner/ice cream magician is awesome. Love their t-shirt designs I get a new one every year.

9 MINUTES Upscale Asian cuisine Small bar area. Yelp: As a former Southern California food critic, I have to say my New England choices for Asian cuisine have been plentiful but mostly disappointing--when we happened into Han Asian cuisine in Granby. This eatery was far and away the best Asian food we have had in six years in Connecticut. Owner James Chen is intimately involved in everything about his patrons' dining experience. James stopped by our table twice to make sure all was well and to approve our up-charge for pineapple rice, with our two Chinese dishes which were usually served with plain rice.I am totally confident in giving an unqualified recommendation to Han Asian Cuisine!

10 MINUTES Great Ice Cream, farm zoo for all! Yelp: Don't let the remote location stop you from checking this place out-- the drive is scenic and serene! This place truly is as good as it gets. Freshness, flavor, large selection, gallons available, petting zoo, fair prices and sizes... but mostly I go for the supreme quality of the ice cream. The extra drive up to Granville is SO worth it. I mean, if you're gonna take on the calories in ice cream, it may as well be perfect right?!

9 MINUTES Yelp Review: Count me as one that was skeptical. Good Mexican food in Granby? But we came here recently, and my dining companion declared it better than Puerto Vallarta (a pretty good mini-chain). Strong words. There's a lot to like about this place. Good service, nice atmosphere, family-friendly, yet still enough for adults to indulge. A big and varied menu. I really enjoyed the Rancho burrito. Filled with good ground beef, it was really tasty, particularly with the guacamole in ample supply. One dining companion had a shrimp dish -- another big hit. While another got a chicken dish that was almost a like a Chicken Marsala with mushrooms. It was delicious.

12 MINUTES Yelp: Ladies and gents, I give you the best Ramen in the state of CT. A title recently held by another (in my mind at least) the crown has now passed to Tiger Belly Located in a little unassuming strip mall in the middle of nowhere Tiger Belly serves "The Darkness" their name for a bowl of Ramen that has so much depth and so much flavor that you don't mind driving to nowhere to get it. 15 MINUTES Yelp Review: Oh. Wow. I was blown away by the quality donuts here. Everything is so fresh and dense and HUGE. These donuts are monstrous. Do not come here if you're watching your diet. But then again, I highly suggest you stop the diet for a morning and treat yourself...because every calorie is worth it. Seriously. Get in your car. NOW! Every donut here is excellent. The glazed crullers are by far the best.

8 Minutes ~ Open Table Review - From the moment we entered LaFigata, we were impressed by the décor, warm welcome and overall vibe of the bustling restaurant and welcoming aroma. We were seated almost immediately and our waitress (Natalie) was immediately attentive and knowledgeable. We had the meatball appetizer (will definitely have that again!), a white pizza and the Bolognese - all were excellent! We finished with carrot cake for dessert with a dessert coffee. This will be a regular dinner spot for us for sure! Well done!!

***** 13 minutes What an amazing breakfast!! We go out to breakfast a lot, and this is one of the best. They make all their own bread and pastries, so they are always fresh. The food took a little longer to arrive than I expected, but they were doing a brisk takeout service and I wasn't in a rush. I ordered the garden omelet with added onions. The eggs were light and fluffy and Every veggie was individually cooked all crisp-tender. The home fries were tender but not mushy. Hubby order classic Benedict. The eggs were poached perfectly. We also tried their house-made corned beef hash, it was delicious. The sausage links tasted homemade too.

Lots of Craft Brew, Wineries and Taverns near by!
10 MINUTES Local favorite with great craft beer. Yelp: I've visited this place 3 or 4 times in the last year or two and have been impressed each time. There's a nice deck in back for outdoor dining or beer drinking, and the inside has a lively bar with high-top tables and a quieter side dining room. Service is reliably pleasant and professional, and the pub food (nachos, sandwiches, pizza) is great. They also take pride in preparing some creative dinner meals, which are excellent (last night we had the special: portabella "steaks". with mashed root vegetables (delicious), as well as a grilled romaine salad (nice, but a bit under-grilled for my taste).

6 MINUTES Voted 3rd Best Farm Winery in CT! These folks that have worked hard to produce a great product in a lovely setting. Lost Acres Vineyard is located in North Granby CT. In the 1700's Lost Acres was a political no-man's land known as "the Wedge." In the early 1800's, the Wedge's free spirited, independent minded, cider distilling hill farmers populated the area. Owners Kevin Riggott and Michelle Niedermeyer, have extended this tradition into grape wine. The essence of Lost Acres Vineyard is farming - wine is made in the field. A former apple orchard, Lost Acres Vineyard reclaimed this land which now contributes to the agricultural spirit and the natural beauty of Granby.

16 MINUTES Yelp: The Westfield River Brewing Co. has everything a proper New England establishment should offer. Great brews, awesome food, and a location w/seasonal views for travelers. The atmosphere was awesome, it's an old post and beam barn with many nooks and crannies, you could be as intimate or social as you pleased. It made me picture an old New England tavern. The beers were amazing, we tried their pumpkin seasonal, their Mexican lager and their stout. The stout, in particular, was amazing.

In particular, the milk stout and the Irish Red are really above average and they're worth trying if you're in the area. Evan, the bartender, enhanced the experience. 9 Minutes - Yelp: They've only been open for two weeks, but it's clear to me that Four Dads Pub is a WONDERFUL addition to the area. We saw some growing pains last night, but I'll start with what they did very well. First, I loved the vibe!! They did a great job entertaining us with Beatles, Dead, Creedence, Van Morrison, and Joe Walsh covers.

1 MINUTE Views for miles and miles! Walking trails just .5 miles from Windy Top. Review: North Granby’s Mountain Road is decidedly not flat. While driving up it, I began to think, “Hm. This could be a problem.” There is a pullout for hiker parking at the trailhead and whoa. The view! Of all the trailheads in Connecticut, this one may have the best view. This is facing northeast and one can see Springfield and the Mt. Tom Range in Massachusetts and a huge swatch of the Connecticut River Valley.

3 MINUTES Breathtaking waterfalls and cascades. Just a 3-minute drive (and a 2-minute walk) from the road. Enders Falls is the best collection of falls I have found in the state. Four of the six falls are among the best single drop falls in the state! Yet they are all along a quarter-mile stretch of the river. Enders is really a fascinating place. The river flows along and then suddenly plummets over a cliff and into a gorge. Then what is really amazing for Connecticut is the river continues to flow along and then plummets down another cliff into another gorge. http://www.newenglandwaterfalls.com/ct-endersfalls.html

12 Minutes ***** Yelp Probably one of the best parks I've been to. They have a good amount of space, nice scenery, and a great layout. We particularly go for the dog park which has a nice stream that runs behind it. While we don't have any kids of our own, we have brought our niece there and she enjoyed the play area. There is a basketball court and adjoining soccer fields. Plenty of space for a picnic as well.

9 MINUTES Great selections including a salad bar. Google Review: This is an awesome market. We typically stop here when we are traveling from RI to NY. The bathrooms are typically clean which is a core metric for my reviews. The fresh market typically has a nice selection of healthy to not so healthy food that is easy to take on the road. As far as shelf goods it’s a typical market. Good selection and never a long wait to get checked out. Highly recommend stopping here for a quick break and refresher!

10 Minutes - Yelp: We were in the area and needed some last minute party favors. Their tequila and whiskey selection was well stocked with variety and affordably priced. What did surprise me though was their choice in beer. Like Jess L. mentioned, they have a random selection of CT beers as well as regional beers. I do recall seeing offerings I wouldn't normally come across, say in Greater Hartford stores. Be smart and poke around as the beer selection is scattered-- maybe you'll even be rewarded with a rare find. If all else fails, talk to the staff -- they are knowledgeable and friendly.

8 Minutes - Beer Advocate: I can't recommend this place strongly enough. Is it small? Yes. Does it have the biggest beer selection you'll ever see? No. Does it have a great selection of unique beers and the best service I've ever had in a liquor store? 100% yes. I'd been primarily frequenting another much larger store for years for no other reason than it was close and big. A friend referred me to Village Cork & Keg and there's been no turning back. Think boutique vs. Walmart. Sean (owner) knows his stuff and loves talking beer (and other spirits) with his customers. He's put me onto some good stuff, all of which is competitively priced.

8 Minutes - Yelp: Went here searching for some Dogfish Pennsylvania Tuxedo, and was very pleasantly surprised with the selection of beer. While the space is a touch small, their selection is very diverse, with numerous beers that are harder to find. The employee I spoke to was very friendly and helpful. This is definitely my new beer store.

15 Minutes Review: Stopped in on Saturday for the first time. Wow. My husband and I walked around checking out the whole store. Love that the store is so bright and the aisle are wide. The meat and fish department are really nice and everything looks fresh. As a lover of cheese they have so many different kinds. They even had Boursin pepper cheese my husbands favorite and a hard cheese to find. They have a tomato bar! This will definitely be our new go to place to shop!

Very quaint setting with lots of outdoor garden sculptures & furniture (Adirondack chairs, etc.). 8 MINUTES Fine country bakery just minutes away. Famous Granby orchard with cafe, hot apple cider in season, pick your own apples. In 2012, due to growing demand, the building was expanded, including the porch, which now wraps around the end towards the orchard. Lunch is served on the porch from May through October, featuring soups, salads, panini, quiche, decadent desserts and more. Whenever possible, it is a true farm to table experience - with fresh herbs and veggies from the garden and fruits from the orchard making their way on to lunch plates within hours - or sometimes minutes - of harvest.

5 MINUTES Fresh vegetables, famous for specialty garlic and tomatoes. Yelp: A very nice farmstand in the Granby countryside. Yes, garlic is all over the place, (the aroma of garlic and fresh basil was intoxicating) but we also saw veggies of every description - tomatoes (regular and heirloom), peppers, onions, zucchini, eggplant, corn, leeks. We also saw some very nice peaches and artisan bread. The real star of the show was the gent (had to be an owner) who was manning the store today. We told him this was our first time here, and he carefully explained how the store was laid out - freshly picked stuff up front, three day picked stuff over there, etc .

We tried a variety of foods and everything was good including coffee and desserts freshly made. Best Oatmeal cookies and Mac n Cheese! A few tables inside but there was a picnic table across on the Green, couldn't ask for a better New England atmosphere. Well worth the drive to step back in time, enjoy good eats and relax.

13 MINUTES Old fashioned toy store with very few if any battery operated toys. Family owned since the 1940s. Yelp: This toy store looks far smaller than it is. It's like entering a vortex and you're sucked in by all the amazingly wonderful products they have to offer. Toys your parents played with. Educational science and circuit board kits. Puzzles. Board games. Crafting kits for the fiber and wood arts. Art supplies. More dress up clothes than I've seen in a long time, and all of them high quality. Lego, musical instruments etc. Necker's focuses on toys that encourage imaginative play and growth, something we don't see enough of these days with all the electronic gadgets and batteries!

60 MINUTES Really cool place to visit, walk around, and shop. This place is huge and I could have easy spent all day here. All of the shops are really nice and the prices were reasonable. I was happily surprised that it is much, much more than candles. My granddaughter was hard to get out of the toy shoppe. There is also a candy shoppe, home goods store, local food products section, and a huge Christmas store. Of course there are also candles for sale throughout the store. My favorite part was the section where you can either pour your own candle or create a dipped candle.

10 Minutes Yelp Review: I had seen ads for this place for a long time and thought it was a little weird. A garden center that specializes in Hosta? It wasn's so strange when I realized I needed some hosta and all the varieties at the local nurseries were the same, boring plants. We were passing through Granby and I remembered O'Brien and we happily left with some distinctive Hosta. The selection was pretty amazing, I think the ad says 900 variety of hosta, I don't doubt it. The shop is unique because it is a house and the plants are just set up all over the property and you can just walk around and pick what you like. Looking for some new shade friendly plants? ,O'Brien's was worth the trip.

***** 14 miles ~ 22 Minutes Everything was great! The antique mall is in the 1880s Collins Axe Factory. I loved the looks of the large place and couldn't wait to get inside. Once inside we were greeted by 2 extremely friendly women who told us the history of the Collins Company (even showing us old photos). It was so interesting and it seemed like we talked forever about the factory and the area. We found several things to buy and as we were checking out the lady took us outside and showed us a white door further down and said we could go in and walk around some and look out the windows to see the waterfall. There were a couple of business in there but mostly it was just an abandoned factory which I loved exploring. Now, back to the antique mall. Except for a couple of cluttered booths (which we didn't bother to go into for fear of tripping or knocking something over) the large place was well organized with a good flow and the main aisles were wide and clear. Some of the stairs inside were steep so be careful on them and hold on to the handrails. You can find vintage jewelry, glassware, porcelain, pottery, furniture, unique items, books, vintage clothes, small collectibles, art, toys, 1950s art pottery (what I collect), rustic, and so much more. We spent the longest time in there. The original floors were amazing and I loved the way they squeaked. I highly recommend this place.

The bridge was built in 1840 to span the Salmon River and is one of only three historic covered bridges in the state. The main span is a Howe truss, 80 feet (24 m) long, with a roadbed 12 feet wide. A secondary span, 30 feet in length, connects the bridge to the eastern shore. The bridge underwent major restoration work in the 1930s after a truck crashed through the floor; it is now closed to traffic and is accessible from a small public park. The bridge was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on January 1, 1976

6 MINUTES Facebook Review: We had a wonderful experience at Silver Street Glass. The owners, Annuka and Mark, are welcoming, kind, patient and incredibly talented artists. They had a challenge in teaching us the art of glass blowing as I am deaf and had brought a child there to learn as well. They didn’t bat an eye...but did everything possible to make our experience fun and informative. We love the ornaments we made and look forward to returning. Be sure to check out the gallery of their work to find a one-of-a-kind gift (or something for yourself). http://www.granbyartists.org/Artists/Ritalahti/portfolio.html

5 MINUTES - Art Of Lamp studio designs and fabricates sculptural lighting. If you are unfamiliar with the discipline, it is the art of combining light and three-dimensional work. The artist, Jean-Luc Godard focuses on organic designs and minimalist concepts. His creations directly respond to the surrounding environment and his everyday experiences serve as a starting point for those works. Open: 8 am to 6 pm daily http://www.granbyartists.org/Artists/Godard/bio.html

60 Minutes 5 Stars Fun day trip excursion! I recently went here with my boyfriend and we had a blast, despite the fact that it was during COVID. The staff did their best to make everything safe but immersive and educational. I was very impressed with the amount of space and how maintained the fields and pastures were. While walking through the village I did feel as though I was transported back in time. I would have liked to come here prior to covid to see what it was like but it did not disappoint today. Highly recommend!!

31 MINUTES There is a variety of rides and all are different! The Superman is on the top of my chart - the drops are just unbelievable! Others that are worth it are the Batman, The Joker and the MindEraser. The Goliath is also a must but your head hurts after cause you keep hitting it in the holders. There is also a water park but they close at 7pm so we decided there is not enough time to enjoy it.

20 MINUTES Wear bathing suits or shorts; or whatever you are comfortable swimming in. It's also a good idea to wear something on your feet: Sneakers, Teva's, water shoes, or wetsuit boots. Don't wear heavy boots. Leave all unnecessary items that you don't want to lose, at home(eyeglasses, watches, rings, favorite hats, and jewelry are commonly lost during tubing.) Our P.F.D.'s (life jackets) get a lot of use and are always wet. We do wash them weekly but they still smell. You can bring your own coast guard approved P.F.D. (life jacket) to wear instead of using the ones that we supply. If you bring your own it must be a coast guard approved P.F.D. (life jacket).

17 Minutes : One of the few drive-ins left in Connecticut. 2 movies for 10 bucks... Convenient food and decent prices! It was a fun and a new experience for me. Great place to bring kids to play on the lawn before the movie starts. The new digital projector seems to have made a big difference in picture quality. It's still not the biggest screen in the world, but I had no problem seeing the movies when we visited. Maybe I'm nostalgic. Where else can you see two movies under the stars, drinking root beer and eating onion rings? It's one of those Americana experiences that is rapidly disappearing.
