Food scene

The dining options listed here are very diverse. When on vacation at or near the Ocean we prefer the ambiance of restaurants with water or ocean views, and / or the option to sit outside in comfortable seating to enjoy the sights, smells, and sounds of being waterfront, whether on the Boardwalk near the Ocean, or sitting waterfront on the Bay / Marina. Some restaurants in Virginia Beach offer BOTH...excellent food and seating offering water views. While other establishments offer outstanding oceanfront or water views, but they may be best enjoyed with just a beverage of choice and an appetizer or sandwich. A few restaurants listed here don't offer any water or ocean views at all, and they may require a short drive from the main Atlantic Ave strip. False Cape State Park is a 4,321-acre state park located on the Currituck Banks Peninsula, a one-mile-wide barrier spit between the Back Bay of the Currituck Sound and the Atlantic Ocean, within the city of Virginia Beach, adjacent to the state border with North Carolina, and just north of Mackay Island National Wildlife Refuge. False Cape State Park includes hiking and biking trails, a visitors' center, environmental educational and primitive camping facilities. The park can be accessed from the north on foot, bicycle, or seasonally available tram through Back Bay National Wildlife Refuge, or from the south on foot or bicycle. Boat access is possible from any shoreline. The park is named False Cape because from the ocean it could be easily mistaken for Cape Henry, which lies about 20 miles to the north at the mouth of the Chesapeake Bay. Ships and boats looking for Cape Henry instead sailed into the shallow waters, where they could easily run aground.

False Cape State Park is a 4,321-acre state park located on the Currituck Banks Peninsula, a one-mile-wide barrier spit between the Back Bay of the Currituck Sound and the Atlantic Ocean, within the city of Virginia Beach, adjacent to the state border with North Carolina, and just north of Mackay Island National Wildlife Refuge. False Cape State Park includes hiking and biking trails, a visitors' center, environmental educational and primitive camping facilities. The park can be accessed from the north on foot, bicycle, or seasonally available tram through Back Bay National Wildlife Refuge, or from the south on foot or bicycle. Boat access is possible from any shoreline. The park is named False Cape because from the ocean it could be easily mistaken for Cape Henry, which lies about 20 miles to the north at the mouth of the Chesapeake Bay. Ships and boats looking for Cape Henry instead sailed into the shallow waters, where they could easily run aground.
