In summer there is a little caravan that offers great food (including mussel fritters!). It is very basic, however the food is tasty and the view is even better when eating in right on the beach. The little shop at the entrance also sells ice cream if you want dessert

This is known as the 'Top Pub' in coromandel and is located just out of the main town. Dining there is like a trip back to the 1980's - large meals which are a little 'rustic' however always tasty. Really easy with kids in tow.

Probably the best cafe in the Coromandel. It is approximately a 45 minute drive from Ruffins Bay, however you get some nice views along the way and can stop at one of the many beaches for a swim.

The 309 Road is a gravel road which takes you on a journey through dense bushland with spectacular views as you follow alongside the river. As you progress through the 309 road there are a number of sites to stop off at along the way, including The Waterworks, Waiau Falls, Castle Rock, The Kauri Grove and Stu’s wild pigs

A great walk which is very steep at parts but you get rewarded with some amazing views at the top!

Voted one of the best beaches in the world, the walk from the northern end of Whangapoua Beach (30 minute drive from town on Hwy 25 towards Whitianga) follows the rocky foreshore around the headland. Approx 1 hour return.

Head through town towards the wharf. Just before you get to the Wharf you will see the DOC Kauri Block walkway sign on your left hand side. This new DOC track gives fantastic views over Coromandel Town, the Harbour and Coastline. 45 min approx walk one way
