Barrier Lake is beautiful man-made lake in Kananaskis Country, created by a hydro-electric dam on the North side of the lake. The lake can be found on Highway 40 (Kananaskis Trail) just south of the Trans Canada Highway. There are parks, day-use areas, hiking trails, and a boat launch along Highway 40. During the summer you can rent canoes, kayaks, and stand-up paddleboards from Kananaskis Outfitters Thursday-Sunday.
The hike takes about 1 hour. This is considered to be an easy hike & the view is spectacular! Would definitely recommend.
