The name says everything, Italian food with focus on pizzas. Why Capone? According to local lore, Al used to visit Fort Myers. An old-timer told me Capone rented the yellow stucco house on 2714 Providence St. I couldn't verify that one.

The best view of the sunset from a restaurant downtown. Food is fine, 2 for 1 happy-hour drinks are okay too. But the sunset is the best and if you are hungry and downtown is too busy, just go a little further and it is very relaxing.

Don't let the name fool you. It is a clean, wide 1.4 mile boardwalk, where you can see a lot of birds, bromeliads, orchids, and an alligator if you are lucky. It is a 3,500 acres cypress swamp preserve. Unfortunately loggers cleared most of the old cypress, and a lot of what you see is relatively new growth. It opens at 8am, and admission is $8. Park the car and walk the beach north towards Doc's Beach House and have breakfast, then walk back and find a place close to the car, get a towel and enjoy a peaceful morning. Normally I get out when the crowds arrive by 10:30. If you do it during the week, it's much less crowded. Also enjoy Barefoot Beach Blvd, with its beautiful winter mansions worth several millions. You cannot trespass but you can look from the car. Second way is to park at Bonita Beach Park, pay $2 / hour, and walk south towards Bare Foot Beach. Same beach as Bonita, just a different name and different county.

The park offers a large grassy area in addition to the white-sand shore, and plenty of parking. Park amenities include restrooms, an outdoor shower, picnic tables, and barbecue grills for public use.

Fort Myers Beach sits on a little barrier island, about 7 miles long, and the beach is great – wide, gradually sloping, and packed sand, which can be a little harder to walk on for a a few miles like I do. But I'm older. This is the place with most bars, lots of places to rent kayaks, paddle boards, and jet skis. It is a fun place with lots of things to do.

But I'm older. This is the place with most bars, lots of places to rent kayaks, paddle boards, and jet skis. It is a fun place with lots of things to do.
