Nestled between the elegance of Mayfair and the creativity of Soho, the Oscar Wilde Lounge is the space where great minds came together to change the world. It is in this very room that Oscar Wilde fell in love with Lord Alfred Douglas, Aubrey Beardsley debated with Whistler, David Bowie retired Ziggy Stardust and Mick Jagger, the Beatles and Elizabeth Taylor danced the night away. Dating back to 1865 and formerly known as the Grill Room, the gilded room was renamed in honour of our most famous patron becoming the Oscar Wilde Lounge. Today, this dramatic setting is home to Hotel Café Royal's award-winning afternoon tea service.

Originally known as 'Bryck Place', Sutton House was built in 1535 by Sir Ralph Sadler, Principal Secretary of State to Henry VIII, and is the oldest residential building in Hackney. It is a rare example of a red brick building from the Tudor period. Sutton House became home to a succession of merchants, sea captains, Huguenot silk-weavers, Victorian schoolmistresses and Edwardian clergy. The frontage was modified in the Georgian period, but the core remains an essentially Tudor building. Oak panelled rooms, including a rare 'linen fold' room, Tudor windows and carved fireplaces survive intact, and an exhibition tells the history of the house.

Located on the North side of Tower Bridge. St Katharine Docks, in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets, were one of the commercial docks serving London, on the north side of the river Thames just east (downstream) of the Tower of London and Tower Bridge. They were part of the Port of London, in the area now known as the Docklands, and are now a popular housing and leisure complex. A good spot for a walk, to grab a coffee or lunch. Dean's Yard, Westminster, comprises most of the remaining precincts of the former monastery of Westminster, not occupied by the Abbey buildings. It is known to members of Westminster School as Green, and referred to without an article. It is a large gated quadrangle, closed to public traffic, surrounding a green upon which Westminster School pupils have legal rights to play football (they have some claim to have invented the modern game). Until the seventeenth century the Green was a third of its present size, since to the south stood the Queen's Scholars' dormitory, which was in monastic times the granary: its stones still support Church House.

Old Spitalfields Market represents one of the country's last bastions of consumer diversity and individuality. Home to an old-fashioned community of over 30 independent and large traders and a plethora of chic bohemian businesses, it has secured its place at the forefront of interiors, design, food and the arts - a market that truly embraces the spirit of modern London, an entrepreneurial and cultural melting pot that is ever-changing and developing without ever forgetting its historic past. Though it’s a stone’s throw from Brick Lane and peak hipsterdom, Whitechapel Market hasn’t been grabbed by the tentacles of gentrification yet. It’s a place where you’ll hunt for bargains under striped awnings and pick up cheap ingredients for curries and stews from traders serving the large local British Bangladeshi community. Jewellery, general knick-knacks and electrical goods are also on offer. If you’re feeling charming, you might like to try some light haggling.

In July 2011, two London school friends; Martin Hayes and Peter Slezak started the Craft Beer Co. in Clerkenwell EC1. Their idea was simple and that was to create a great place with an inviting atmosphere, the best products and the best service that you could find in a UK pub. They focused on sourcing beer from far and wide, little known brewers from all over the UK and International brewers that had rarely been seen in London before. The Craft Beer Co. Clerkenwell was hailed a beer lover’s paradise with 16 cask lines and 21 keg taps, as well more than 200 bottles. In fact, before the year had ended, the pub had been crowned Best Bar in the UK on RateBeer. Now they opened in Limehouse.
