Food Scene

This is a local favorite boasting fresh crab, crawfish, oysters, and other luxurious seafood options. With its rich history in French-Vietnamese cajun culture, The Boiling Crab will offer up a unique dining experience. Lines form quickly for lunch and dinner, so be sure to get there with the expectation that you may wait upwards of 30 minutes for a table. Never fear, there's a bar at Famous Dave's directly across the street to wait at!

Drinks & Nightlife

Previously named "The Marmist", The Office is a staple of the local scene. It is a beloved dive bar that recently got a facelift, and the patrons are top notch conversationalists. The bartenders are always friendly and willing to chat with you as little or as much as you'd like. This hole-in-the-wall holds a very special place in my heart, and is a great spot for meeting with old friends, making new ones, and having a chill evening at a low-key bar.

Entertainment & Activities

Levi's Stadium is a quick VTA ride from our home! The great thing about our Air BnB is that it is a 0.9 mile walk to the nearest Lightrail station, and Lightrail is the best way to get to Levi's. If you're considering attending an event here, our spot is a no-hassle zone for it!

The West Wind Capitol Drive-in is one of the very last Drive-ins left in the Bay Area. Many of the other Drive-ins have been closed in favor of development for housing/businesses, and this treasure continues to operate just down the street from us. This is a great place for a date night, a night out with yourself, or a group of friends. Prices are very cheap, especially on Tuesday nights, and it is easy to get a double-feature out of your visit.

Parks & Nature

Almaden's Quicksilver County Park is rich in local San Jose history. The trail offers up maps that outline the historic landmarks along the numerous hiking paths in the 4,163 acres available to explore. This plot of land was home to San Jose's famous mercury mines and was instrumental in boosting the economy back in the 1800's. The mines were highly important during the California Gold Rush, since mercury was used to extract gold from ore. I've hiked these trails personally a dozens of times over since my childhood and can't get enough of it!

Arts & Culture

San Pedro Square is the best place to go to get both a crash course in San Jose History and a blast of local culture. Within the market are placards and dioramas displayed in glass casings that explain the challenges that the founders of San Jose had to overcome in order to establish the city. Additionally, the market has tons of various cuisines and drink options. The best part about it is that there will often be live music in the outdoor seating area, and the market is always vibrant with life. There is no age restriction for entering this location and people of all ages congregate here to enjoy something that is uniquely San Jose.

Local Color is a very unique Art Gallery that is open to the public with free admission (unless otherwise stated for special events). This location used to be a Mervyn's, but has since been shut down, gutted, and re-opened as a hub for local artists. Artists can rent out booths in this location and work at any time they please. Their works-in-progress are on display at all times and guests are welcome to walk around, witness them work, and see how beautiful masterpieces get made from the ground up. Various events like singing-bowl therapy, hip hop dance battles, and featured artists occur here frequently, and it is a great place to connect with local, like-minded creative people.
