On July 14th, 1789, where started the French Revolution, watch on the floor all around the square, there is a marking on the ground of the old walls of the tower and the ramparts. In the metro station there are remnants of the walls and the dungeon.

The oldest square in Paris and one of the most beautiful, a few minutes walk away. Its construction began in 1605 under the reign of Henri IV, it housed many personalities (Victor Hugo, Francis Bacon...) and witnessed great pages in the history of France.
