The best pain au chocolat and coffee in town, I would highly recommend a visit whilst you are in Edinburgh! They also have a place on Victoria Street.

This is a fantastic wee place to enjoy a good cup of coffee and delicious home made cakes. One of the best parts is the location as it is right beside the Hermitage of Braid and Blackford Hill so great for a stop before or after a walk. At the very top of Blackford hill you can see stunning views across the city and beyond to East Lothian. There is also the observatory located at the very top of Blackford Hill which if you have a car is easy to park at.

Fantastic local restaurant in Bruntsfield. Specials are always different-the only place I have seen grey squirrel on the menu! fantastic wine selection and the service is great. Would advise booking.

AMAZING ICE-CREAM! absolute favourite is this place for ice-cream. I would just go for plain vanilla-delightful. Often a long queue out the door but worth the wait.

A fab Japanese restaurant. Easy to get to from the flat as you can hop on the number 34 or 35 bus and it will go right past this place so an easy one to get to as well. Personally I like the fresh made sushi and then tempura dishes.

A hidden gem! Off the tourist trail and hands down the best Mexican street food in the city in my opinion. No bookings are taken so you just have to turn up. If you do have to wait there is a pub right across the street you can have a drink in.

If you are a runner there are plenty of off road trails and on a Sunday the park is closed to all traffic.
If you have a car this is a great country park to visit located about a 30 minute drive from the flat. Check out the new parkrun (www.parkrun.org.uk) on a Saturday morning which starts at 0930 and takes you on a 5km run through the park on trails. There is a coffee shop on site.

The yacht is the former boat of the British Monarch Queen Elizabeth II between 1954-1997 and as a result is great for historians as well. It also has an onboard tea room which is a bit expensive but gives you a real experience to.

During the summer try and get tickets for the Edinburgh Tattoo which is an amazing spectacle every evening of pipes and drums.
