Beautiful extensive park with great views overlooking the Swan River and Perth. Take a free tour of the grounds, shop at Aspects for your uniquely Western Australian (mostly!) arts and crafts, occasional symphony concerts, moonlight cinema over the summer period.

Secluded beaches, cutest wildlife (see quokka) , bicycles, free bus tours, small museum. A miserable history for our indigenous people - but a fantastic island for everyone today (if you can afford the ferry trip over...about $80 return). If you come to Perth your trip really needs to include a day trip (or overnight stay) at Rottnest. Make your way to Fremantle and catch the ferry over from there . As of March 16 - Tuesday's had discounted ferry prices. Google for good deals.

Where else can you have a pint and feed kangaroos? Take a 45 minute drive into the John Forrest National Park and get up close with nature. Fantastic for picnicking and hiking and wildflowers in spring fantastic.
