Food Scene

This is a local, small batch ice cream shop. Ice cream is made fresh daily with classic and rotating, inventive flavors. If you can only go once, try their ice cream sandwiches or their root beer floats (with house-made root beer).

The Kitchen Next Door has farm to table, healthy food with delicious flavor at affordable prices. For pricier options, it’s sister restaurants the Kitchen and The Kitchen Upstairs, are all next to each other on Pearl St. The Kitchen Community also works as a non-profit to put community gardens in inner city schools across the country. Live music once/week and a great drinks.

Laid-back tavern with community tables, a warm fireplace & elevated pub food out of a wood oven. One of the best selections of beers in the town. In February, make sure to drop by for Stout Month. Cash only.

Sightseeing

(especially the West Pearl area, West of the Pearl Street Mall, i.e. West of 11th St.) West for a quieter more local scene, East for the street performers and shopping. This area of Boulder is known as one of the more bohemian parts of the city. There are tons of unique restaurants, bars and shops.

NCAR hosts free science tours every Friday. The most scenic drive in Boulder, just to get there. There are also lots of well marked trail options up there. You should be able to see trailheads marked from the parking lot. One of my favorites is the Mesa Trail.

Parks & Nature

This is also a consistent uphill, but this one is mostly natural stairs (great views at the top, you pop out between the flatirons). 1.5hrs roundtrip. There are many different trails in Chautauqua, so you can find something easier too. A popular well-marked area. Dogs are welcome on leash. Bring water. There is a parking lot.
