Óbidos is a magnificent well preserved medieval walled town known as the 'Town of Queens' because of a tradition in which kings used to offer it to their wives as a marriage gift. The town is stunning, full of well-preserved white houses with Manueline porticos and flower-laden window boxes; sinuous streets with romantic recesses; arcades, small squares and interesting buildings. Among the events that take place every year in Obidos, the most important are the Holy Week Festivities (recreating the steps on the Way of the Cross), the Ancient Music Festival, the medieaval market and for the more gluttinous, the International Chocolate festival.

The Berlengas archipelago is a group of small islands 10 to 15 kilometres (6.2–9.3 miles) off the Portuguese coast, west of the town of Peniche in Oeste region. These islands were traditionally known to British mariners as "the Burlings".[1][2][3][4] The only habitable island is the largest island, Berlenga Grande, although there is no permanent habitation there at present.[5] The other islands are grouped into two groups of islets, the Estelas Islets and the Farilhões-Forcados Islets.

It is a fortification located in the south slope, above the cliffs, between the fishing port, to the east, and the Gruta da Furninha to the west.
It is also a museum, the Municipal Museum of Peniche , consisting of archeology collections (representative of the Furninhagrotto), underwater archeology, malacology (branch of the biology that studies molluscs), shipbuilding and local handicrafts ). It also houses a sector dedicated to anti-fascist resistance, and the old prison cells can be visited.
