I was inspired by René Magritte’s surrealist painting The Treachery of Images when I chose the name of my own place, because owning a restaurant in Cuba is the most surreal thing to happen to me. Here, we have blended the worlds of art and gastronomy. Each dish is dedicated to a vanguard artist, and we exhibit the work of up-and-coming artists. I recommend our take on the traditional ropa vieja, which we’ve named after Cuban artist Wifredo Lam’s work Tercer Mundo.

¨This is not a cafe¨, it is a very cozy place in the corner of the Cathedral Square, with tables outside to enjoy the atmosphere. Very good and healthy offers, good service and quality. And of course you can have coffee in the afternoon accompanied by some delicious dessert!

This Art Cafe's owner "Mayrellis" is a teacher of Art History and a great friend of ours! She opened the restaurant to combine tasty dishes in honour of famous world artists. Duchamp, Pollock Chicken, Lam Third World or Blue Klein, among others, are a tasty tribute that combines recipes from international cuisine with the flavor of Cuban culinary tradition.

Me inspiré en la obra surrealista de René Magritte, La traición de las imágenes, para elegir el nombre de mi propio local, porque tener un restaurante en Cuba es la cosa más surrealista que jamás me había pasado. Hemos mezclado los mundos del arte y la gastronomía. Cada plato está dedicado a un artista vanguardista.
