Igreja de Santo António
A beautiful little cathedral steeped in history! A very important building in Lagos. If you are looking to learn some history then take a stroll past.
“Completed between 1679 and 1690, the Fort was used to guard Lagos by protecting the river mouth from attack. In the 1600´s the coast was under regular attack of pirates and corsairs, in addition to the Spanish who bombarded the Algarve during the Portuguese Restoration War (1640–1668). This led to the construction of a string of forts.”
“Small, beautiful beach and crystal clear water. In between cliffs. 200 stairs to get to the sand... and back up”
“Out by the lighthouse you will see the classical Algarve with the cliffs. Why not take a boat trip into the "grottos", the caves, and hear the funny story of them by the locals.”
“One of the most gorgeous beaches in the Algarve! Turquoise colour of its water that stands out from among natural slopes. It earned an award from a Spanish magazine Condé Nast in 2013 as the most beautifull beach in the world!”
“The best place for "pasteis de nata" and to try traditional Algarvian desert like "Dom Rodrigo" and "morgado". You can eat them there, at the "pastelaria" (pastry shop) with an excellent coffee, or take them home with you. Delicious! (Around the corner from fish market)”
