The best place for afternoon tea. Think silver cake stands, staff in period costume, tea galore and a view of the pretty Montpelier Gardens. Make sure you have a Fat Rascal (a Yorkshire scone).
The 'world famous?' Bettys, home of Yorkshire Tea and Taylors of Harrogate. Self-service continental dining on the main floor with table service downstairs, all staff are dressed in period clothes and the cakes are to die for (you must have a fat rascal and a fondant fancy!)
Betty’s tea rooms are considered to be a Yorkshire institution. The Northallerton branch is the closest and possibility the nicest (less crazy busy like York & Harrogate ) Lewis & Cooper is also worth a visit for all you foodies.
Famous traditional English Tea Room – can get very busy. There are 2 Bettys Tea Tooms in Harrogate one in the centre on Parliament St and the other is at Harlow Carr (see below) which can be reached by a short walk through Valley Gardens and the Pinewoods.
“Valley Gardens are English Heritage Grade II Listed gardens covering 17 acres. Open all year round, there are different areas and garden styles making it a lovely place to explore. Band concerts take place on Sunday afternoons throughout the summer. There are a variety of outdoor games including tennis, pitch & putt golf course, crazy golf, boating pool, paddling pool and a children's play area. Get a snack or ice cream from the Magnesia Well Café and the Games Pavilion. Turn right out of the flat and walk about 10-minutes and you will see the gates to Valley Gardens on the left just after you pass Hales Bar. ”
“Some great live plays, musicals, and comedy shows come through Harrogate. If it’s not too late you might find some tickets! Just a 10-minute walk from the flat.”
“Beautiful gardens, activities for children during the holidays/some weekends. Has a Bettys restaurant and tea room. Nice gift shop. ”
“A beautifully restored Victorian bath house, you can take a brief tour, but we recommend booking in for a Turkish bath session! Enjoy saunas, steam room, cold plunge pool, and relaxation room in Victorian splendor. You can also book a massage, manicure, pedicure, or other treatment. Directions: Turn right out of the flat. Turn left on Parliament St and it’s on the right about a 10-minute walk.”
“If you love film and the weather isn’t great, pay a visit to the local Everyman – playing some of the latest films and sometimes classics. We love their comfy sofa’s and cocktails. A 10 to 15 minute walk from the flat.”
