Design Museum Gent
Design museum Gent is the only one of its kind in Belgium. Its focus lies on 20th-century and contemporary design.
My favorite museum in town! The extensive collection shows design from the Middle Ages until now and its impact on daily life. Also the temporary expositions are often worth a visit.
“The museum dedicated to modern art. Besides their permanent collection, you can visit some interesting expositions.”
“Great museum on everyday life throughout the years. Maybe not for English speakers but if you understand Dutch this small museum will be a very pleasant surprise. Take a photo in the cool photobooth!”
“Lovely interactive museum to spend time with the kids, only 15 mins walking.”
“The café of Arts Centre Vooruit Large cultural chit-chat café and eatery with an Art Deco interior; originally the heart of Ghent’s socialist movement. Cultural temple for theatre, concerts, dance and parties. Many organic and/or fair-trade products and a veggie daily special. To celebrate its 100th anniversary, Vooruit is bringing Triomf, one of its old beers, back to life. You can taste this 100% organic, highly fermented 6% vol. beer at Vooruit Café or the Vooruit shop. Cheers! ”
“The main emphasis of the collection here is painting covering the 15th to 20th centuries. The central hall adjoining the entrance hall has eight fine Brussels wall tapestries: three with motifs from the story of Darius (17th century) and five with the theme "Triumph of the Gods" (1717).”
