At the tip of Cape Cod. Worth the trip with amazing sand dunes and sunsets. In Provincetown, which is always nice to visit. Parking fee
The classic - go to the open public beach, or walk miles either way to stake out your space
If the gay men's beach scene isn't for you, or if you just want something different, Race Point is big, beautiful, has a parking lot, and is very family friendly. This is also great beach option if you're on a bike ride through the Trails and want to take a dip to cool off.
“Great food (duck is amazing) and perfect place to watch sunset. Good for a cocktail or a full meal.”
“Provincetown National seashore treasure on the tip of the Cape Herring Cove gives you everything you crave in a Cape Cod beach: picturesque dunes, miles of deep, hot sand, clean bathrooms and changing rooms, and a healthy mix of families and couples, both gay and straight. Parking can be a bear in July and August (especially during Bear Week), so the far better choice is to hit the nearby bike trail for a bit, then lock up your two-wheeler for a well-earned dip. If you crave even more pre-beach exercise, there are dune hikes aplenty (with far fewer clandestine sex acts than in decades past).”
Point of Interest
“For the adventurous: It's a bit of a hike getting out here (1 -1.5hrs), you definitely want to wear proper shoes to hike the breakwater. Or take the Long Point Shuttle for $10-$15. A nice place to get away from the hustle and bustle of the town. Seal sightings common. There's a lighthouse out there too. Keep an eye on the tides. No bathroom facilities. Pack water and snacks. ”
“Provincetown has been an artists' haven for over 100 years, and the PAAM--like the Fine Arts Work Center--is a revered institution that keeps that flame alive. It's one of the premier arts institutions on Cape Cod.”
“Tucked in the quiet east end, The Mews is open year round and has gluten free options. A must dine experience. As always, reservations are recommended. The Mews hosts a weekly Monday night open mic. ”
