Kafana, a Yugoslavian delight in the East Village, is focused, unwavering, and explicitly Serbian-Croatian, with grilled meats and chopped, crunchy, fresh salads.
Absolutely delicious Serbian restaurant in the East Village! Definitely try their Spinach Pie!
Great authentic Balkan food. Wonderful atmosphere, with live Balkan music on most nights.
I am Serbian and I can vouch for the food at this great Alphabet City gem. The food is delicious, the ambiance is authentic and the service is great. Manhattan's best Serbian restaurant by far. Cash only so make sure you come prepared.

“Great take-out lunch spot for grabbing salads, cheese and sandwiches and heading to the park for a picnic! Grab a bottle of wine from Brix next door. ”
“Slovakian deep-fried hamburgers. Yes, they fry the whole burger - bun and all - into a giant ball. Need I say more?”
