Popham Beach State Park
Hands down the best beach in Maine, maybe all of New England! Plan to spend the day, miles of beach to walk, islands to view, even an old fort that you can explore.
Best to visit the state park at low tide. The Fort can be visited at all tides. Good stripper fishing at the Fort
On a sunny summer day, there isn't a more beautiful Maine beach. When the tide is low you can walk out to an island to explore. Worth the drive, but watch out for the seagulls that seem to be overly confident about trying to steal lunch from bags when people go walking...

I almost always get the same thing, but one day a friend meeting me was late and I had a chance to read the entire menu and I was pretty amazed. In their own words: We offer an amazing array of baked goods, GLUTEN FREE AND PALEO treats and fresh baked Cinnamon Swirl Bread! Our menu can easily be modified to accommodate gluten free, vegetarian and Paleo diets! They have been written up a lot in the press, most notably for their blueberry pie in Down East Magazine. I've only been there for breakfast but I"m dying to try their crab bLt... ”
“Good coffee and selection of baked goods And lunch items. Nice atmosphere and location in downtown Bath. ”
“1.5 miles of sandy beach, picnic area, charcoal grills, snack bar and bathrooms. Open from 9am to sunset daily. 47 minute drive from the cottage. ”
“Nice place for a simple breakfast with a wonderful deck with a view. Very close to The Big House and The Nest in Bath. (Take a left out of the driveway, then a left at the first major intersection. Winnegance store will be about 500 meters down the road on your right.)”
