Back in the day, when Portland was still a working-class town, smokey bars dotted every corner. You could board a makeshift school bus to take the Bar Fly Bus Tour of the best dive bars in the city (because that's all we had). If you want to know what Portland was like in the 90s, go to Barlow Tavern—an unassuming, dark, wood throwback to quieter days.

Cozy North Portland hangout. One of our favorites. Dive-bar style. Good selection of beer and cocktails. Great place on a rainy day or evening. Cozy up to the wood stove in the corner or test your skills at some pinball.
