Chicago has so many incredible restaurants, but if you're looking to cook some meat or just want to pick up some great smoked sausages and/or salamis, Paulina is as good as it gets in Chicago.
This place is an institution. The butchers really know their stuff. And they sell a lot of unusual ingredients as well as convenient packaged meals. They even sell Haut Doug's sausages (one of the few places where you can get them since he closed his restaurant a couple of years ago).
If you are looking for a quality butcher, in-house smoked meats, or specialty food items, this is the place. I have never had anything from here that wasn't delicious. It might be pricey, but worth if for a splurge. I love talking to the butchers, some of whom have worked here for decades.
“Best donuts in the world! Open since 1922. I’m obsessed with the Chocolate Glazed and the old fashioned donuts. They also have any pastry you could want all with a deli counter.”
“I’m lucky to live by this spot! Cool selection of craft beer. They also have a cozy tap room in the back that you can enjoy a beer in or even rent out for a private event.”
“Authentic Thai food. Cozy little place with a few tables and is BYOB. Pick up some craft beers across the the street at Bitter Pops.. Warning the medium spicy is super spicy. ”
“Easy walking distance, Fernando’s is a must if you love Mexican food. It’s not fancy, but recent renovations have upped its game. The food is very good, but the real reason you come here is for the margaritas. They are superb, but watch out, they sneak up on you.”
